How to make lol* pix:
- Go to our lolcat builder
- Pick a picture or upload funny pic of a cat/dog/walrus/hamster/human/ that u own
(the kittehs prefer: clear, larger images (larger teh better) they also hate animal abuse. that’s a no-no.) - Write a capshun. need tips? try current events, pop culture references, movies, songs.
- Originality is moar better.
- Clear and concise ’cause kittehs have short attenshun… Ooh, catnip!
- No profanity *gasp* pleez.
- And click “Save & Submit”. OR:
- If you don’t want to submit it, you can just press “Save” and feel free to email ur lol* to friends! Our lol builder provides free image hosting and a page for your image.
- After review, your photo will be moved on the Voting page.

There may be several reasons why u don’t see ur lolcat/* on the home page:
- It’s up to teh voters to decides! Any registered users can cast teh votes!
- Copycat (lol!) capshun! We liek originality. If it’s been dun b4, no need to try again.
- Text may be cut off, or covering a critical part of the image. This happens a lot. Ah hem! Respect the kitteh in the picture!
- Too many wurds. Kittehs has short attenshun spans.
- Picture u used may be 2 small, out of focus or contains too much hoomans.
- UR lols is funny, but only to a small group of people (liek NY Yankees fans or chiropractors. Plz. No hatemail. Kittehs r team neutral.)
- Even kittehs may haf a hard tiem understanding ur kitteh speak. It makes our heds hurt.
- Contains Do Not Want contents liek drugs, bad wurds *eww*, abuse
, or just makes us uncomformatable.

One thing I don’t understand:
Sometimes I get an email that confirms my submission and it doesn’t show up. Other times I DON’T get an email confirming my submission, yet it does show up. It makes my head hurt…
Personally, I recently submitted something, didn’t get a confirmation email and it didn’t show up. Though the site had told me it was submitted when I pressed the button. So I’ve been trying to figure out since if it just sucked or didn’t actually go through.
Don’t want to resend it if it just sucked.
I also sends many lolcats to ICHC–only ONE day I does this, does I get ICHC email replies. None ever again. I have sadnees now.

I, too, have had a similar issue…and I also see duplicates of ones done before…and some that just aren’t plain funny.
also, one of mine has disappeared off the voting page, but never made it to the front page with 600+ votes putting it at five burgers, while others made it to the front page with only four burgers…it kinda bothered me…and made me really sad…

If this is the case, how come you sometimes get very (very!) similar captions on the voting page?
The FAQ also doesn’t explain why the pictures (not captions) always disappear, without fail, both with the old system and the new system.

I know that only a small percentage of photos make it. My question is when a photo is uploaded are they retained in the lolbuilder for others to use or do the photos themselves have to go through approval in addition to the caption approval.
In your next update please put a search by email address. It can indicate that something was rejected, is still in the queue, or is posted someplace. I would like to find the picture with or without my own caption.
Yes, they are retained in the builder and the Small Frys review them to be added to the shared pictures.

besides that—you really must clean out the older VOTE pages—those without live pictures. I can’t get to the oldest submissions because there are 1600 pages.
I see that the voting is irrelevant to whether anything gets on the front page—so why have voting? I suggest that you either dump the voting pages, or run the front page by votes.

I submitted a couple of pictures over the weekend and got notifications they were up, with these links:

1. Will votes received at the static page at thecheezburgerfactory.com be counted when deciding whether to promote it to the home page?
2. Did I do something wrong submitting the second photo to remove it from consideration? (It may be it didn’t make it to the voting page because it was deemed unfunny or unoriginal, which is okay, I just want to know if it’s because I failed to submit it properly)

I’m confused about the criteria for determining which lols appear on the voting page. The criteria in the FAQ is not applied consistently, as some LOLs have wurdz that covers teh cute kittehs. I also don’t understand why there isn’t an apparent relationship between the voting page and the top-rated lols on the front page — top-rated by whom?
It’s also confusing when a LOL that I or a friend submits doesn’t appear, but then a LOL with a similar theme or wurdz appears a few days later. I can understand if my idea is deemed to be unfunny, but if that’s the case, then why is the same idea approved on a different day? In those cases, I’ve checked my lols to make sure my text and graphics are OK. Perhaps there are different people judging, or such surge of submissions that it’s hard to keep track?
This is a great site, and lols are a blast to view and create, but I’d love to understand the voting-page criteria better.

It’s become my goal in life to get one on at least the voting pages. But even my photographs with no captions aren’t showing up on the ‘free for use’ photos… am I uploading them too big? Bigger is better? I’m trimming them to under 800 pixels horizontally anyway. More advice, plz?
I’m seeing lots of the same type on the voting pages … that cat with the pink tummy, for instance, with all the varieties of separate your laundry, don’t wash with reds, etc. Why not one of my originals instead? Do they have to have a minimum number of votes from a private page before they’ll get looked at for your site?

at first i started to get annoyed.
nao i just create them, submit them, and post them for my friends to see. i guess my LOLs are just not that grate, akshually! *lol* but my friends (who have said they’d tell me if they sucked) have asked me to keep posting them and harp on me if i haven’t posted one in awhile! at least someone LOLs. even if they never ever make it to the voting page.

I had assumed the whole process was automated, with everything going to voting and the highest voted pictures going to the front page, thus I came here to see what I was doing wrong that my pictures weren’t showing up for voting. Now I see that my faith in humanity was too high, and the pictures I see on the voting page have already been culled.

Maek moar lols an chek sometiems to see if yoar lol makes to upcomin paeg. It took meh ovar 30-40^ to get mah furst lol on upcomin paeg. Its “INVISIBLE HELICOPTER RESCUE.”

Tehy doan go tu the main paeg unless teh admins thot it was funni and selected it to main paeg. You can find yor lolz buried sumwhere in votin paeg. If yor lol does very well and gets lots of “WINS,” you might see it on teh upcoming paeg. I fink teh admins select lolz from the upcomin paeg, mostly.. very few nawt su well voted lolz, maybee.
It wud help voting if each pic didnt come up again and again on the voting page. They’re reapeated…like…a lot…same caption, same pic. Maybe there’d be more room for the rest of us if it didn’t repeat so much?

I’d like to know how some people get personalized avatars for the discussion boards, like this one. I want one. I have a pic up on my profile…but it doesnt come up as my avatar on the discussions.
I’d also like to know some of what Blake wants to know too. It’d be nice if we could know when our pix make it to voting, and how many votes they have. I think the format for the voting page should be changed to have multiple submissions, with check boxes for pass or fail, that way they don’t keep coming up over and over again. This site is run like s**t, answer our friggin questions, and address our concerns.

Most of the originals pictures are too small to use as screen savers. Once in a blue moon somesone may upload a picture from a huge screen saver size jpeg or bitmap, but then LOL shrinks them down to their size, and then I don’t know if it will still be a huge picture if you try to copy it back from LOL.

I looked at the lol ur talking about, and, unfortunately, “dunno source” is the one who made it… that means we dont know who made it. but if u want the whole lol removed, email ichc (under ‘contact us via email’ at the bottom of this page. they know how to take care of that kind of thing, and are the only ones that have the ability to delete someone else’s lol…

I never see my lols on the voting page. Sometimes I go there and vote and vote for a couple hours while I watch TV, and I NEVER see my LOLs. I see lots of LOLs not nearly as good as mine. Mine don’t have any bad words, nothing offensive, cute and funny – please answer, lots of us are asking the same questions!

Anybody else having trouble with the voting pages? I keep getting the message there are no more lolkats to vote on. This has been going on since yesterday afternoon. I had this problem last week and sent e-mails to tech support but I hate to keep bugging them if everyone is having the problem.
