  1. Commodore says:

Vegan cat food would kill cats. ಠ_ಠ

  2. Yui Daoren says:

“All of our food is vegan.” Ahhahahaha! Oh, that’s lovely.

Translation: “We’re starving our very carnivorous cats of desperately needed protiens.”

Homeopathic flea collar: Fleas need water, too.

At least the crystals make great cat playthings. =^_^=

    • Clint says:

until they swallow them and they cut up their digestive track.

Yeah. Cats are OBLIGATE CARNIVORES. They can’t survive without eating meat.

  3. Steven says:

I’m glad everyone recognizes that cats can’t eat vegan food. It’s not funny when some people might get the wrong idea.

    • bunnyrut says:

      get the wrong idea?
when i was walking through nyc one day i saw a vegan pet food truck drive by. with a picture of a cat and dog on it.

    • Linda says:

I was going to actually reply to this (for once) and say that cats are the world’s true carnivores and that they can’t survive without meat, but I’m SUPER glad that someone (more like many someones) beat me to it. Because that means I’m not the only one around here with some sense. Self entitled vegans need to get off of their big cozy high horses.

      • knacker says:

The horses are only cozy cos they’re made of meat.

      • Vegan says:

I’m a vegan. I also have half a dozen cats. They eat what nature intended them to eat…meat. I’m vegan, my animals are not. Don’t put down ALL vegans because SOME vegans are ignorant.

        • fs says:

She didn’t put down ALL vegans. She specifically put down “self-entitled” vegans.

        • generalking says:

          PUT DOWN ALL THE VEGANS
once my parents started feeding me meat, i realized that there was something other than the disgusting vegetables they jammed down my thoat. i never ate them again. im 17 now, i still havent since. i say if all i have to do to get a nice juicy tender steak or a nice succulent seasond bucket of chicken with the special herbs and spices is to kill a few stupid and ugly animals, the animals can go flock themselves.

      • RAGE GUY says:

I have to agree that I was going to say the same thing. Just because my cats like to steal vegetables when I’m not looking means that it’s detrimental for them to eat vegetables. Cats need meat and humans have been eating meat as far back in time as I can recall from my history lessons. I believe that it’s necessary for people to know about their pet’s diets. This place would be torture for my cat even if it didn’t have vegan pet food… no boxes, curtains, or windows to play with.

  4. Gseven says:

Yep, the only time they eat veggie is to get ruffage or collapse the hair balls.

  5. Mariah says:

How is this funny? Like at all?

  6. The BEST food for Cats is 1) meat from birds and small mammals (poultry and rabbits), 2) bones from same. 3) Grind together. Cats are inherently lactose intolerant so they can’t get calcium from dairy. They need ground up small bones in their food. Well, you don’t have to grind them, but it’s safer to.

Heard this from a Vet. Won’t ever buy store bought cat food again.

BTW: Dogs don’t need much meat in their diets, but don’t give them bones unless they’re thick bones from large mammals. Small bones will hurt them. Dogs love green beans. You can make a turkey/potato/green bean/cooked oatmeal mash that they would just love! Skip the potato if they’re overweight, add more potato if underweight.

    • SmokeyIsMyGoddess says:

Think bone meal will work as well?

    • fs says:

Question: do you cook the chicken first before serving it to your cat? I’ve been trying to find cat food that is soft and made from real meat, but no such luck. My cat does not digest any cat food well and vomits a lot. I think giving him real meat would help, but don’t know how.

      • Katrina says:

Best way of giving your cat real meat is, unless it’s possible for him to go out hunting himself, is to go to a pet store that sells birds, rats, insects or stuff like that and give them to him while they are still alive. I know people who do that a lot and it stimulates both his mind and his digestion. My cat is allowed to go outside because I live in a really small town, so he kills a lot of birds. Cats hunt in their natural state, and unless you can’t stand the sight of him killing stuff (or if it’s against law where you live I don’t know) I see no reason not to buy live pray for him. Personally I think it’s hilarious to watch cats hunting.

        • Katrina says:

Oh and by the way raw chicken, pig, cow, lamb, turkey, any raw meat basically, like even if it’s deep frozen, is great for a cat. As long as it’s not deep frozen when you give it to the cat. But don’t cook it. Cat tummies are made for digesting animals raw, preferably killed during the process of digestion. :P

          • fs says:

Well, this might sound crazy, but my cat isn’t much of a hunter, no matter how much he thinks he is. He’s not big into playing either. I adopted him from a shelter when he was 4 (he’s going on 9 now) and I don’t know anything about his kittenhood, but I suspect he was neglected and not played with much. He doesn’t behave like he had those cat-like hunter instincts fostered in him much. But! He loves gushy foods from the can, so maybe I’ll try some raw ground beef and see how he likes it. Maybe try it in small nibbles here and there, then gradually shift his diet? Actually, I’m glad he’s not much of a hunter, I think I’m too squeamish to witness the hunting of live animals :O Thanks for your advice!

  7. Camille says:

I knew a woman that had her dog on a vegetarian diet. When I tried gently speaking up for the dog, she said that she gave him vitamins to supplement the need for meat. While speaking to her in her kitchen I noticed lots of little shallow holes in the back yard. Apparently, even though she went out of her way to give her dog vegetarian food, the dog was digging up earth worms to supplement his own diet. Score one for the dog! Poor doggie..

  8. anom says:

    1. everyone commenting on the vegan cat food is right, but
    2. it’s a joke.

  9. Reese says:

Cat ignores all and sleeps on the staff’s folded uniforms- best spa day ever!

  10. catlover says:

FOR GOD’S SAKE PEOPLE, GET A GRIP. It’s a JOKE!
    It’s just a cartoon!

  11. Seagull says:

Thousands of dollars spent on kitteh spa – Kitteh plays with the boxes it came it.

Also eats vegan food for excellent burfs.

  12. Toon says:

I am so glad so many people beat me to the punch about vegan cat food. Trying to make a cat live on vegetable matter is like putting Nutrasweet in hummingbird feeders.

  13. Katrina says:

I looooo0000oooove the zen litter box!!!111!!!one!!!eleven!1111!!! I just wonder if those big black things are poopsie-doopsies, because if you don’t cover them properly they smell. I keep telling my cat but I guess the point of zen raking in sand is to rake around the “bigger rocks”. Which would explain his toiletatory behavioral disfunction.

  14. debc says:

Whew! I’m glad not to be the only one who raced out here to leave a word of caution about “vegan” cats.

Cats require taurine and will go blind without it. this is why they are CARNIVORES. If you want a vegan animal, please re-home your kitty and get a cow.

I liked the concept of your cartoon, and I’m sure you love your kitty (ies). Double check us with your veterinarian; but please feed your kitty what it needs. Don’t make the kitty suffer the consequences of your lifestyle.

    • anom says:

it’s true about cats needing taurine (deficiency can cause heart problems in addition to blindness), however, not only is the cartoon a joke, but i’m pretty sure it’s satire (c’mon, bowls placed according to feng shui? kinda gives it away). so i wouldn’t assume the person who made that cartoon actually tries to give her/his cat a vegan diet, or is even vegan him/herself.

      • barbara says:

I can’t swear to it, but with my four cats I have to have multiple food/water stations to avoid conflict. I have found that they just won’t eat/drink out of bowls placed in certain areas! Even if other bowls are empty-they wait for me to come home and complain loudly. So I guess my cats have some kind of feng shui issue.

  15. Dictynna says:

There ARE vegans out there who force their diets on cats and it’s wrong. I’ve met some vegans so obsessed that they killed their animals that way, claiming that “everything can be vegan”. So, “joke” cartoon or not, it just gives the mindless an excuse to abuse their animals. Although good on you, Vegan person up there, for treating your animals right.

  16. Diane says:

And kitteh still just wants to know where they cardboard box is.

  17. vegan cat lady says:

OH MY GOD, I fed my cat a vegan diet solely on the basis of this cartoon (because I take ALL of my feline dietary advice from CARTOONS) and now he is DEAD.

  18. Billy says:

So I’m an authenticity Nazi. VEGAN cat food? I don’t find anything humourous in anything to do with deluded, ignorant people- especially those who starve their cat to death to meet their personal philosophical schema.
