My understanding is that lead paint tastes sweet, and cats don’t have taste buds for sweetness. It would be interesting to have that spot analyzed, though.
i hope you’re right, kate. but it could also be something else on the wall, & lead paint can surface even from under multiple layers of paint over it.

My kitties do this…to walls, windows, curtains…whatever. They’re special.
We used to have a “corner comber” attached to the wall for the cat to rub herself against and groom herself. It had a catnip pocket in it. Maybe there is ‘nip residue there?

OK, this makes me feel a little better. Our cat licks the underside of cabinets, the blinds and the windows occasionally. Anyone know why?

They get high off of it. Paint and plastics have a similar effect.
Sometimes when cats lick inanimate objects, or eat cat litter, it can mean that they have a vitamin or mineral deficiency (usually iron). One of my cats used to lick concrete and move ornaments off the cabinet to lick underneath, she stopped doing this when we gave her vitamin supplements.
I took this video just last week of my kitteh Zoe enjoying my boifrent’s shoos. She is unimpressed by my shoos.

I have a cat who goes gaga over a spot on the front porch. The other cats ignore it…but perhaps that’s because their brother is already there, licking it and rolling around in rapture?

When my cat started licking cement and dirt, it was because she was very anemic. Since that cat is actually damaging that wall (at least it appears that way in the video, it might just be wetness) I would suggest getting the kitty to a vet for a check up and mention the odd licking.
Eating things outside of the norm (like plastic bags) is called PICA and can and usually is a sign of nutritional deficiencies..
