Really people…if you watch the actual video on utube, the creator says that the whacker object is soft foam wrapped in tape and he’s ever-so-gently touching them on the head with it. The kittens are not being harmed. If you’re really worried about cat abuse, go volunteer at the Human Society and see what true abuse is.
looked like that whacker was a little too rough looking.even if you where not hitting them at all or where only lightly tapping them the whacker is where you would get into trouble every time as it looks like it could hurt them.the whole ideal is something that would get people pissed but the whacker was like the last straw cause it doesnt look like something from nerf that would have been there if its the normal game.that thing looks dangerous to those sweet baby kittens.

These are infants, not adult cats. Their skulls are fragile and their brains vulnerable to harm. Would you repeatedly whack a human baby’s head, even in fun?
No, but I would feel perfectly comfortable with gently touching a baby’s head.
They’re infants, but if they were that fragile, they’d die in birth. Touching their heads gently doesn’t hurt them. It’s just a joke… We can see it wasn’t meant to be offensive.

The original video shows the kittehs are fine. They were handled in a gentle, playful manner. Kittens wack each other harder than that!
There was no meanness done to the kitteh, but if it makes you feel any better, my kitteh likes to whack me when I walk by. He sometimes whacks me on the head from the back of the couch, which is pretty funny to me.
Mine whacks us in the face in the morning to check if we’re still alive.
My kitty nips on my eyelids and earlobes every morning. He was abandoned, and walk through out cat door in September and never left. He is very possessive of me, ans it’s very important to hime that I wake up when he says so!

My only ‘fear’ is that some of the more, shall we say, “intellectually challenged” people who view it might take to doing it ‘for real’.

My friend actually did this video….no kitties were harmed in the making of this vid, she was actually using it to help her find the extra kittens homes. All of the kittens found good homes

Oh no! How could anyone in their right mind ever even conceive of pretending to this to sweet little kittens?!?! I mean, its perfectly alright pretending doing it to nasty, ugly moles, who cares about them? All they do is ruin your lawn and make huge gutters that you can trip in, fall over, and hit your head on the brick patio, believe me, it’s happened to me more than once! Don’t whack dear little pussycats with sticks like that, you must pat them softly, give them kisses on their little pink nose, and rub them softly between the ears, that’s what make a pussycat purr!
Why do you hate moles? What about when your cat walks across your path and you are running to somewhere and you try not to step on it and fall and hit your head on the corner of the wall? Cats are adorable, of course, but don’t hate moles.
Cheez, lady! How can you defend the kittehs and condemn the moles? Moles are so ugly they are cute! As for digging up your yard, yes, they do it to mine, too. Because, that is what moles do, and with diminishing habitat, they need a place to do it!

I don’t think this gif was the best choice. It may be that the kittens weren’t whacked hard but it just doesn’t look very good to be whacking any animal with a stick. If it was kids being whacked with a stick people would be freaking out.
He he he! I used to play “kiddy bowling” with my grandsons when they were 3 and 5. They would run across the yard, and I would throw my huge exersize ball at them. If they fell down when it hit them, I won. If they stayed upright, they won. They loved it!

I have been watching the threads on this picture from the beginning. It is obvious that they are not hitting the kittens hard but as the gif goes along it speeds up and looks more like they are getting hit harder. The whole point being that it’s just sort of disturbing looking, at least to me it is. If it was a feather wand or something like that it would be different, the fact that it looks like a big mean stick that could ‘possibly’ be harmful is what makes this so disturbing to me and not really funny. Like I said, just my opinion.

While I see the humor in it, There are sickos out here that would think it’s a good idea.. I’m in the Portland/Vancouver area and unfortunately there has been many acts of animal cruelty this past year. One incident involved 3 young boys,ages 5,4 & 8. A neighbor tried to stop them and had to call the police. The oldest boy was torturing the cat with a knife. it did not survive.We have teenagers that ride around shooting cats from their vehicles; people/person that gets off by skinning cats alive, then putting them in their yards for the cats family to see. We have had be-headings (of dogs also),and last ,but not least–animals thrown from moving vehicles into fast traffic. So you see now why so many people are very touchy and humorless about “Whack A Cat”?

I don’t think animal haters would be here in particular, so it’s pretty useless to go off on it, but on youtube this would be a more acceptable response. One that sees humor and problems.
To say that the uploader is horrible is ridiculous, or the maker of the original video or the Cheezburger staff.
To say that it might encourage animal cruelty is an acceptable response to the right audience.

Well put Lisa. We have enough problems all over the world with animal cruelty. Posting “whack a kitty” isn’t funny or entertaining and only encourages sicko’s. Doesn’t matter if it was “gentle” as people put it, the act of hitting an animal then posting it online just shows poor judgement and immaturity. This isn’t the first time that borderline cruelty/trauma images of animals have been put on lolcats in the name of entertainment.

I’d say this video encourages NICE behavior for people. I’m not american so I don’t know the original game so well, but I think that the whack-a-mole implies wacking the moles hard, right? And here the kitties are being gently “wacked”, showing that there is no need for violence and we could all enjoy a good joke without any violence or animal cruelty in it. Couldn’t it be the sort of “treat your animals well” thing? Like the game has to be changed so the kitties aren’t hurt or scared? And that’s the only kind of game that can be played with kitties, the harmless kind, with no animal cruelty. Just my opinion. I’m open to different opinions, but without trolling, please.

Seriously, this video is just a bit of harmless fun. It’s obvious that the kittehs are barley being touched. My cat fell off sofas, walked/ran into doors, walls, flowerpots, tables, chairs and god know how many other things when she was a dinky kitten, and it caused her no harm what-so-ever. She is perfectly healthy and always has been. Same human kids. Kids run into things and hurt themselves. It’s what kids do! And it’s the same with baby animals. My sisters cat did the same as my Cleo when he was a kitten. Granted, he’s totally message up and moronic, but he was like that when she first got him as a bubby, and it is not a result of running into walls. If anything, running into walls is the result of him being a f**king reject.
I love cats, and I hate cruelty to animals, but people need to get a life and look at the REAL cruelty. Not sillyness. I used to do a similar thing to Cleo, only I’d push down GENTLY on her head is she was trying to climb on the sofa, or scratching it. Or attacking my leg. Kittens heads are NOT THAT SOFT! They can take being stroked on the head and scratched on the head, but they can’t cope with a soft, gentle, little PUSH or TAP?! Isn’t a tap on the head how most people actually train their cat to not, scratch or piss on furniture?! Also, to those who made comments about not doing this to a baby, again, IT’S GENTLE! It probably feels like a stoke to them! And you stoke a baby’s head to sooth them and stuff don’t you?! Please, learn to notice the difference between cruelty and playing.
