   This would have been funnier if something like this hadn’t happened to my great aunt for real.
   One of the surgical team miscounted sponges and they had to do another (emergency) surgery a couple of days after her first operation to remove the one they’d left in (and both times they failed to notice her about to rupture appendix….)
   My dad was named executor of her will when she died (very) shortly thereafter (technically from the appendix rupturing, but two surgeries in short succession didn’t help). The hospital tried to send him a bill, but shut up REAL fast when he started making noises about malpractice (the surgeon had *already* admitted that someone on his team had screwed up).
