Welcome to Japan’s “Cat Island,” officially known as Tashirojima. The cats were brought to the island long ago to help deal with a rodent problem. They stayed because of the booming fishing industry. They love kittehs so much on “Cat Island,” that they built a cat shrine in the middle of the island!
Both human and kitteh inhabitants of “Cat Island” survived the recent earthquake and tsunami.
