        Maybe I don’t know what a care troll is, but what is *sounds* like is someone who seems to care “too much” about the welfare of animals for other people’s liking and voices their opinion here (like everyone else). I don’t come here and say something to push buttons. I come to enjoy the cute kittehs and the great (mostly) lols attached to them.

        Here’s me: I’m an animal advocate, rescuer and lover and have been for 50 years. I’m hyper-sensitive to these voiceless creatures needs; FAR more than I am to people. I wish I liked people more, but it is what it is. So when I see an animal suffering, which includes anything from even the most minor bit of fear or stress to downright physical pain, I freak.

        Animals don’t have the capacity for evil. People do.
        Animals would never chastise me for caring about the welfare of a human being. People obviously aren’t so non-judgmental. I include myself in that category, of course. The nasty human condition. Anyway, it’s easier for me to love animals. I has teh trust ishooz.

        What’s been grating on my nerves lately (the last several months) is just how MANY photos/videos/animations are posted which show what I mentioned above. Cats being tossed in a swimming pool, stuffed in a too-small tube, etc. It hurts me terribly. So I voice my displeasure and get some folks riled up. Granted, there are plenty of others who feel the same way I do, but they get beat down when they say anything, too.

        *sigh* I hope that clarifies me – for anyone interested. *lol*

        Anyway, thanks for posting. You’re a good soul.

          Ohai again den! :lol: *lolspeak off* I totally disapprove of people endangering, hurting or giving animals discomfort (some things, such as giving a shot or something, can’t be helped, though.) but with some of the lols, the animal is putting itself into a sleeve or climbing the doorway and falling on its own accord. That is part of them being an animal and their learning experiences. I just try not to judge a .gif or a video or a lol by what I can immediately see. Sometimes there is more to the story. For example, people were getting all upset over the kitty that had the neurological disorder but the kitty was playing and happy! The pool one made me unhappy too but I get upset at the people saying things about killing the kid or something as well. It’s the parents’ responsibility to teach and guide their children. I did feel bad for the cat but the cat was fine and will no doubt keep an eye on that kid for a while. I guess I’m just middle ground. I try to find out if something is truly as bad as it seems before I get upset. Like the whole pretty, witty, gay one from yesterday. I am not fond of using the word gay in a negative way but I also have no right to get offended. I’m not gay and I do not represent them, although I do support them. Besides, not every person, let alone every gay person in the world feels the same about everything. I am getting off subject but I do try to be a good soul. I’m not perfect and I have my opinions but I try to keep an open mind and respect other opinions as long as they do the same. I can tell you are a good, caring person too. I am done babbling…for now! :lol:

            I haven’t been around much lately and haven’t seen any of your comments, so i won’t call you a care-troll unless and until you give me reason to think or do otherwise.

            for want of a better definition, a care troll is someone who seems well-meaning but totally flies off the handle and gets irrationally upset and confrontational with the rest of the cheezpeeps without really thinking about why or looking at the pics in any greater context than what is readily visible, even if that might not be the whole story of the picture and usually feels the need to reinforce their particular brand of butt-hurt with some exaggerated credentials (like the infamous aerobic-instructor/vet-tech/paralegal who used to come around in the early days and scold us for any and every lol that was even REMOTELY questionable even on occasions where the person who took the picture was there in the commentary thread to provide a perfectly reasonable and plausible explanation for the circumstances in the pic)

            also, the cats-in-tubes-or-sleeves thing is also a technique sometimes used for cats coming out of anesthesia to immobilize them for a bit until they come down (think of the whacked out kid’s reaction to the anesthesia come-down in the “david after dentist” video on youtube and apply that mindset to a kitteh and it makes sense)

            Most of us here are or have been pet owners and would never dream of harming our fuzzy companions or laughing when someone else does, so you might find it reasonable that the assorted cheezpeeps might take offense at being called out by someone who suggests otherwise, especially if they’re being really aggressively strident about it at the time.
