My gawd. When is ICHC going to stop allowing this type of image which perpetuates the mistreatment of animals? And for all you who say the cat isn’t being “hurt”… sure, no broken bones, lacerations, etc., but it’s obviously not only uncomfortable, but unable to defend itself. Cruel.

Perhaps you should volunteer at your local animal shelter and see what people do to animals. I speak from long experience, you, apparently, do not. If I can wrap one of my cats in a towel, like a burrito, in order to give him his medicine (and release him very quickly with a treat of fresh, wild salmon), it’s conceivable that I could put him down a sleeve too.
I know what evil bastards do to cats. The things I hear make me cry and want to kill those “people”. I will not mention them here. Judging from your screen name, you probably do have more experience than I do. I have, indeed, tried to wrap our cat up in a towel so my mom could give her medicine and I rarely come out if it without at least one bleeding wound. (not that I would ever blame or punish her, my poor girl) I also know that she (fatty that she is) likes to squeeze into the tightest, most awkward places all by herself. It is conceivable that the cat could have been put down a sleeve but I was merely saying that it is more likely that the cat went in by itself. In fact, if you went to the video, the cat was just laying around in the sleeve when the other cat came and surprised it. Being surprised, she tried to go forward instead of back and was trapped. It actually looks a little like the orange & white was trying to mate (maybe) but obviously couldn’t. The cat wound up getting out of the sleeve (front ways) all by herself when she wasn’t being attacked by the other cat. Yes, maybe the person could have intervened but maybe that person knew his/her cats better than we do. Please, feel free to have your opinion, but please do not suggest what I should be doing to further my animal education.
I totally agree, Woot, I came here to write the same thing. You can see the aggressing cat’s fangs as it goes to bite the trapped cat. This is NOT cute or funny. The trapped cat is terrified, I guarantee you. Whether the cat crawled in the arm by itself (and thus was “asking for it”???) or was deliberately put in there by someone, there is a human operating the camera and, apparently, thought that making a video and posting it on this site is the appropriate action under the circumstances. It most definitely is not. Rescuing the cat from his predicament is the correct thing to do. Besides, this simply encourages others to copy this–or worse, spur a more “spectacular” idea.
I’ve been rescuing cats since I was seven years old, that is, 58 years. The last big animal rescue effort in which I tool part was in the Lower Ninth Ward after Katrina. I do believe know a cat in distress when I see it.

Cat’s crawl into tight spaces like this ALL the time! Thats why this website even exists, because cats do dumb things ALL the time! My cat has done exactly this a few times. Everyone needs to get off their animal abuse pedestal because not everyone is into animal cruelty as much as you like to believe it!

Cats like to hide in tight spots. My cat loves crawling into sleeves. And they are obviously PLAYING. If you had any experience with cats, you would see that the cat biting Purrito is being playful, i.e. the ears aren’t flattened back, and the bites are obviously gentle.

loling at the people being oversensitive about this. Cats get stuck in sleeves a LOT. My cat does it all the time, my friends’ cats do it all the time. Those saying it’s ‘cruel’ or whatever? It’s like someone saying your kid getting himself stuck in a tree while trying to climb it is bad parenting. Grow up, people. It is not animal abuse. Its cats being cats. You guys know nothing about animal abuse. We need to just ignore the people who scream “animal abuse”. They do it because they know it will get a rise out of people. That being said….they need to learn what animal abuse REALLY is.
