I’m with you. Playing with a stuffed animal on carpet is certainly not where a baby otter should be, even if it is a rescue.

Must’ve been a foundling. Baby otters are high maintenance (I had a friend who took in baby animals years ago, and had a pair of kits that I helped with), being very intelligent and mischievous, and, of course, loving water most ardently, VERY messy. I’ve adored otters ever since — in the wild where they belong, and in zoos.

why is it people have no problem with some animals being pets but suddenly they all crawl out of the woodworks over an otter pet.
Its a pet. Its no like this breed of otter is endangered… Unless you are prepared to get rid of all pets, stop critisizing people on their choice.
@Josh Your question is very simple to answer. Because otters are wild animals, they are in no way domesticated beings. Cats, dogs etc., are domesticated animals. If this baby otter is being rehabilitated, that’s great. I just hope it will get to be an otter one day.
I think this otter pup is the same one shown in previous videos. The ‘owner’ works for the zoo and is raising it at home for that reason. Not a rehabbed otter (it is an asian otter, not north american). Captive bred and born to be a money maker. (And, fyi, for the right people, otters make a great pet!)
