my goggies used to do that too. the run thing and the wimper/bark thing. lol and would go faster if we gently skritched their tummy by their legs. glad kittehs are talented that way as well.
It is a sleeping disorder due to neurologic causes. Every animal should only move the smallest muscles when asleep, so if the toes and face, whiskers, ears move thats OK, but if the whole legs (with the big muscles) move the cat’s brain could not paralyse them as it should be. If it happens to a human he / she will be a sleepwalker. This kind of paralysis is for protecting the sleeping creature of accidental falls etc.

I think I’ve seen this video before. Wasn’t this cat in a shelter? And he or she ran during sleep because he or she had been abused badly, or something? But he or she was mentally getting better, and runs less in sleep, if I remember it correctly.
