This isn’t funny, LOLCats. Any cat could really damage a small turtle with a good claw or bite and a turtle could damage a cat with a bite to the tail.

I agree. I don’t find this video amusing; it’s interesting but disturbing. I don’t see why the owner would allow this.
The turtle isn’t playing; it’s behaving aggressively, and could definitely injure the cats, which, in self defense might kill it.
Since I can’t stop the owner from acting the fool, I can only hope that they will wise up and separate their obviously incompatible pets.

Political correctness has nothing to do with this. We are expressing our concern that the pet owner has overlooked the dangers in this situation. The fact that most of the content on this site is pleasant and enjoyable does not mean that one should blithely ignore content that celebrates carelessness or cruelty.
Why is someone who is concerned over the fact that an animal may be injured or killed because of its owner’s carelessness a “jerk” while someone who finds a potentially dangerous or abusive situation humorous a jolly good fellow? Makes no sense.

O_o… Other than a Snapping Turtle, this is the first time I’ve ever seen one (a turtle) be so aggressive.
They seem docile and passive, or at least the one I owned did.
And while the video has funny moments, I too must rain on the parade. The cats could seriously injure or kill the turtle, and the turtle’s bites could become infected on the cats.
The video had funny moments, and some of it was cute, like when the turtle started chasing them (I have to admit, I lol’d), but it was a dumb, dumb idea by the owner. Both the cats and the turtle could’ve been seriously injured, or worse.
And I’m sure the owner probably helped instigate it. =\
I was bitten by a tortoise in my youth ( soo sooo long ago) just for trying to feed it (dunno if male or female–hard to tell) Some of them are very aggressive. Some turtles are aggressive, too. My brother in law has two and one of them tries to bite him every time he cleans the tank. The other one doesn’t.
Can anyone name that tune? I’d like to be able to hunt it down. Thanks!

why would someone leave their turtle out with their cats running around? Turtles can bite hard! Plus cats can do serious damage to turtles! Those cats didn’t seem all too thrilled. I have a box turtle and a few cats, and I would never leave them out together. I didn’t find this video amusing at all
Likewise. My family used to keep turtles, and we wouldn’t have let them bite our poor kitty or chase him around like that. This wasn’t funny at all.
And the music just added insult to injury (literally). As if letting that thing attack the poor kitties wasn’t bad enough, they put it to “party” music to treat the whole thing like the funny joke that it isn’t.

By the way, re the turtle vs cat argument, have none of you who are so worried they’ll hurt one another not realized that all the cat really needs to do if it’s all THAT bothered is jump up where the turtle can’t go? It looked to me as if the cat was playing a game (maybe its little living tank partner was too–who can say WHAT goes on in their itty brains?!). I thought it was very amusing, & I did laugh out loud several times. I never saw any serious attempt to really fight. The owner was right there, so obviously he or she could easily have just lifted the turtle up if there looked like a serious situation developing. You few who don’t like the video, lighten up already. No-one’s making you watch, after all.

Interesting behavior from a Russian…wonder what made him so territorial. They’re normally very docile. Have two Russians myself, along with two African spurred, two California desert, and two red-eared slider turtles. Not even the sliders are that aggressive towards any of our cats. But as long as the cat has fur and/or is quick, and the tortoise has no loose or missing skin, neither of them are likely to take damage. The only time I’ve ever seen our torts injured is once, when one of them backed into a cactus, and they spend as much time as possible digging up the cacti in summer. Sharp edges graze off too easily for them to get hurt, and it takes the strength of a greater big cat to do any real damage.
@ Connie C: the cats were trying to eat. There was a bowl down for the turtle to eat, too but the turtle was more interested in chasing the cats around.

Well I for one would be happy to see more. All I see is one animal harassing another in a comical fashion, the comical part being how small and slow it is yet the cats run away despite having the stronger advantage. I find this funny and even a little cute, if you find this offensive why? Really, why? So many of your criticisms are based on assumptions, perhaps this was a new turtle and the owner wanted to see how the cats would react to it, if anything serious had happened I doubt they would have posted this video on the net.
Assertions that the owner is being irresponsible is like demanding children be taken from a mothers custody because she didn’t do anything to stop one child from annoying the other by dancing in front of the television when they were watching it and they ended up hitting each other in the arm. Get over yourself.
The turtle is aggressively harassing the cats while they are trying to eat. You do not mess with animals when it comes to food. No matter how well trained your cat or dog is, if they develop a food issue they can act erratically.
It’s funny up until the point the cat decides it’s had enough and is really hungry and takes a swipe at the turtle’s head.
The child analogy is N/A since we are dealing with a predator and prey. Just because they are domesticated doesn’t change the food chain.

It’s true that people have been getting on here a lot and just being pissy because they don’t agree with what they see. Honestly, if you don’t like it, than don’t watch. Or just walk away. Go look at Daily Squee if you want to see something 100% innocent. Oh wait, they show pictures of wild animals in captivity so you may not like that. You do realize that cats are violent with each other right? I mean they claw the hell out of each other just to get a point across. Some turtles and lizards carry diseases but if an owner is smart, you can vaccinate those pets just like any other. I used to have an iguana, so I know. Turtles are territorial no matter what. And it wasn’t violently biting the cats, it was a nip. Herding dogs to it too.
