So, I am going to be serious and skip the lolcat language.
I really think the lolcat-crew should think twice about these kind of images where kittens acctually get hur or are very close to getting hurt. You all realize that this kitten would have had severe injuries had he landed only a couple of inches further out where there is something on the floor?

It isnt funny when children or animals get hurt because their caretakers don’t act responsibly. No lolcat language in the world can change that.
At first I was going to accuse you of trolling but I took another look at the gif and suddenly noticed a wooden plank right next to the kitteh’s head. It’s pretty obvious to me now but the first times I viewed it the plank blended into the background.
Yeah, wtf is that block of wood about? Sure doesn’t seem so safe to me. Staged is one thing, but safety first, folks! I don’t want to see some little bitty kitten whack it’s head in order for some dude to get the most LOL comments. It loses it’s cute value when you could accidentally hurt the little kitten.

I think that plank was part of a parcour setting the owner had built for the cat. At least that is my interpretation. Because my first reaction too was that the cat could have gotten hurt there and I don’t want to think the owners risked that on purpose.
OMG! I didn’t notice that plank, either! Now I’m upset, too! Almost looks like it’s there on purpose. This is going to bother me all day now. I hope kitty is ok, and this really is just a person who’s not thinking.
If ICHC were to remove every picture/gif/video that someone says “OMG THAT POAR KITTEH COULD’VE BEEN…molested!” or whatever, this website wouldn’t exist. People can find problems with everything I’ve ever seen here. The cat’s fine, take a deep breath and laugh at it.

I know, I saw that too, but i thought the block of wood was there to stop the kitten from immediately crawling out of the pillow. I couldn’t believe they did that, because to me, it looked like the kitten hit its head when it was sliding back. And what a$$hole would make their kitten fall on its back anyway? Stuff like this makes me hate people sometimes.
As much as I agree with you, if you watch the beginning, he jumps over it, so i’m assuming this is supposed to be some really short obstacle course the owner made, that’s just me thought. Nevertheless, that isn’t cute at all, someone needs to slap the owner.

Now, I don’t think falling on its back from that height (or lack thereof) would have hurt it. The block is what got to me. But others did say it looked like a cardboard scratching thing, so maybe that wouldn’t have caused injury. But it really looks to me like a block of wood, so who knows?

I do think Serious was just a tad TOO serious, but seriously (!), that stunt would’ve been just as funny without the board there just waiting for the kitten to crack its skull on, don’t you agree? Apart from that “little” detail, it’s a cute clip.
I thought it was hilarious until I noticed the board – kitten is sooo cute, and the look on it’s face when it’s under the pillow is really funny. Board kinda bothers me, though. : (

Isn’t it obvious? The block of wood has been positioned so that the cat can’t easily get out from under the pillow, they probably practiced it a bunch of times and got it lined up in just the right place. Without it the cat would have probably just legged it and it wouldn’t look as funny.

I know the wooden board is bothering people, the cat could have been hurt. I don’t think the owner did it on purpose though, not intentionally. The catjumps over the board earlier in the clip, maybe it was a little obstical course.
I don’t think that’s a board. Looking at it from the end, that looks like the cardboard scratching post I have for my cat. That thing is light and squishy.

Looks like an obstacle course to me, and it’s definitely one of those soft cardboard scratching things. How could he ever have known the cat would fall over backwards like that. Think about it–how many times have you seen a cat fall over backwards exactly like that, lay still for a minute, etc. It wasn’t posed or staged. Don’t think it could even be done. Give it a break! The owner’s playing w/its kitteh, for Pete’s sake. Jeez! I think it’s cute and funny. And I’m a real kitteh luva!
My question is, if it wasn’t staged, why was the pillow leaning against the wall? And why did the owner guide the cat toward the top like that?
Staged or not, it’s funny, but that board-looking thing there does make me wonder. If it’s a squishy scratching post like someone said, ok it’s fine, but it looks like a block of wood to me. But I can see how it would have been pretty simple to line it up just right so the cat wouldn’t hurt its head. I found it funny but yeah, the board (or whatever it is) didn’t need to be there, really.

Poor kitten! Could have been hurt with that board there. I figure it’s suppose to look like he’s tucked into a bed that has a headboard but, seriously, he could have been injured.
And for those who are like, “Oh, well it’s a soft board blah blah blah.” kitten skulls are very soft at such a young age. Falling from a foot or two against that still could have hurt him.
I think things like this make this site look bad. ICHC should monitor what they post more closely. There are plenty of safe pictures available. No need to put things up that may provoke a reaction. When in denial- don’t.
