Oh, and I had two male cats before, and learned that the one who is acting out is probably showing frustration at being the “beta” cat.
Cats are territorial over space (where dogs are territorial over food) and if they have moved into a smaller area than they are used to, or even just a new area, they may be staking out “their” territories. The alpha cat has no issues; it’s the beta cat that gets frustrated. Make sure the troublemaker gets plenty of attention from your daughter.

definitely try the spray bottle idea. has worked on my cats. and if the cat doesn’t seem to mind getting wet (some don’t) or seems to get used to it after a while, try putting a little vinegar in the water.

Attention all cat lovers:
My 20 year old daughter moved back home and brought her two male cats
(brothers). One is black and does as he his told but the striped cat jumps up on the counters and tables constantly. How do I discourage this behavior??? I do not want to eat this cat but if it come to a point. I have eaten almost every animal possible. Cats are on my list that I have not LOL, why start. Cats are to nice to eat, they have a cool personality.
