The kitties were not hurt. I checked her arm & claw sheath was in the fur but didn’t break the skin. She has thick gray fur. No kittehs wur hurt in the makin of this video!

Bleeding hearts ruin lolcats? WTF? Most of us love cats and so we come to this site, but when cats are not properly looked after it’s us who SHOULD get preachy. My cats play like this all the time, and the truth is that if one of them was really mad their body language would be different (no one was puffy or hissing or ran away). However, cats should never be allowed to have nails that long when they are playing … it can cause real medical problems (abscesses and infections to name a couple). Animals are not here for our entertainment, we are just blessed that they give us so much joy. I’ll preach my ass off to make sure they have a safe haven and responsible place to do that (keep them inside, healthy, trimmed up).

Yeah, I mean I admit I was concerned at first but I watched till the end and it appears the claw was snagged in fur, not skin. If it had been snagged in skin hard enough to really hurt I think there would have been a lot more yowling and a more aggressive attempt by the other cat to break free.

Oh man then you would have a coronary if you watched my little equine herd at home here establish their pecking order. Flying hooves, laid back ears and bared teeth. Most of it all for show. Those cats were fine. There was no Ooohhhwooooahing (battle cries) and fur up like when they are really MAD.

Lucy, get a grip on your life or get a room on 4th floor. Cats will play and fight, why? Because there cats. They sort it out on there own. its called a pecking order. My 2 cats have there spats mostly when an outdoor cat comes to the window. until it really needs separating and im talking major snarling, hissing and the point where they can really really get hurt, I let them go. They sort it out on there own. Your bleeding heart comments ruin lolcats. scram.

It sure looks painful, but I don’t think there was any need to break it up. If the owner had approached them, the cat would have yanked the claw free just the same way and run off. And cats are pretty tough. The one who was hit took it pretty well. Plus, that was a pretty tame fight, the stuck claw being just an accident. If two strange cats get into a territory fight, that looks completely different and they’ll scatter their torn out fur all over the place. These two were clearly on friendly terms, and a bit of fighting is totally normal for these animals. You can’t do anything about it and they don’t really hurt each other. I can assure you, that vid was harmless.

Lucy, I agree about the caught claw. The boxing… well, having cats of my own (a pair of siblings with that beautiful love-hate thing going) the boxing is actually a form of play. Once the claw got caught though, I’m sorry, it stopped being funny and you should have dropped the camera and gone to help.
