I have never played the game “The Sims”, but I get the impression that SL is like a free-form Sims – no requirement that an avatar have a job or a house, as they do in The Sims, and more freedom to do stuff like build buildings, make and sell items, engage in many sorts of of recreation like skydiving, scuba diving, giant snail racing, or just jumping shopping carts/trolleys over mountains.
And yes, there is s*x, but adult content is now confined to certain areas. There are plenty of PG-rated places in SL to visit. One of my favorites is the International Space Flight Museum with models of rockets from all over the world.

How many of you are aware that cats can get breast cancer? Fiesta was a pregnant streetcat who was rescued, and adopted by us after her kittens were born. We were graced by her presence for 7 short years before she developed breast cancer, and even though she had surgery to remove the lumps it still spread to her lungs. She crossed the rainbow bridge 4 years ago, and I still miss her.
Use those belly rubs to check your ladies for lumps! If you find any, have a vet check them.
