I learned a very expensive lesson last winter when my broccoli loving kitty got very sick and nearly died. Leo’s favorite foods were broccoli and cheese. The over abundance of calcium in those two items lead to him developing calcium oxylate crystals in his urine, which complete blocked his urinary tract. His entire system shut down, and if I hadnt gotten him to the vet when I did he probably would have died within a few hours. It cost me $1600 to have him treated, and now he’s only allowed to eat the expensive cat food.

oh, and my vet also said that Meow Mix is BAD!!!

It’s okay for kitties to have occasional greens. In the wild, they do eat the partially digested grains/greens in the stomach of herbivore prey, so that is why city kitties who eat kibble occasionally nibble grass (or in this case, broccoli). Why my cat likes Twizzlers, corn and marshmellows, I have no idea.

Too much!! I had a cat that went wild for peas! this otherwise sleepy kitteh would leap from ontop of a cabinet to the table and knock them off your plate for herself..she would slap at your fork to get them off before they got to your mouf…

My sister had a kitten that used to go crazy like that around any food at all. It was a wild cat before my sister found it, so it was used to having to fight for food. Once I tossed a couple of pieces of fat from a steak on the floor for him, and the dog. The cat went in the dogs mouth too take it out. The dog (who was at least 120 lbs) looked up with me with a pitiful look while the kitten (small enough to fit in the palm of my hand) ate and growled and hissed.
