    Yah, yah dat’s teh spawt…

  3. Tuko says:

Um careful there — that nozzle has enough power to pull an eyeball from a socket if fluffy nuzzles it just at the right angle.

    • poopers magee says:

I am in complete agreement. I actually jumped in my seat when that happened. It’s neat that the kitty allows itself to be cleaned with the vacuum, but please don’t go near the face!

      • slwallis says:

I was horrified to see this, if the owner thought the cat was doing this for enjoyment think again, the cat was obviously looking for attn, and any attn would have done. The vac by the way is NO way to clean a cat not only can it suck out a cat’s eye it also may have dust mites and other parasites in it.

    • Mike S says:

Agreed, and I’d hate to see what it did to an eardrum too.

    • slupine says:

Depends on the vaccuum, really… I’ve known some that didn’t have enough suction to even clean the carpet. *headdesk* Cheap piece of crap… Though I’d still worry about it next to the face, yeah…. not a chance I’d want to take.

The torso, though, no worries on that. We used to have a longhair that would come running to get vaccuumed. Pulled off the dead fur I guess. Odd way to keep the shedding down but she loved it. Only cat I’ve ever had that didn’t run from it…

    • LOLcat says:

yeah that cat will be eyeless in no time if that goes near his face

  4. Q. says:

    • slupine says:

I’ve known at least one other… never seen a shorthair that liked it though. We used to have a maine coon mix that loved it – took off the shedding hair.

  12. EB says:

Hmmm – Cute, but not smart . . At least put the brush on the hose so that you don’t risk injury the cats eyes but getting the hose “stuck” over an eye.

  13. Amy says:

dis is uginst all laws of naytur.

  14. oof right on his eye socket

    • Nennepus says:

I saw that too – and winced… but, kitteh seems unfased about it, so I guess he’s allright!
Still wishing my long-haired furrshedder ekstraordinayr would like the vacuum cleaner…

  15. pete says:

  25. SKW says:

    Is automatik pettin masheen!

  26. firekitteh says:

Naw, kitteh no like vacum. Kitteh’s just curious…

  27. Sassy says:

While the cat doesn’t seem to completely mind the vacuuming, it is incredibly unsafe and stupid. 1) the vacuum was going against the cat’s natural direction of fur 2) the vacuum appeared to narrowly miss sucking out the cat’s eyeball 3) the vacuum could have sucked off the cat’s wiskers, which it needs for direction. Most of the videos on this site are humorous and harmless but this is not. Please don’t vacuum cats!?

    • slupine says:

Depend on the vacuum you’re using. I’d never take a Dyson anywhere near a cat, but one of the cheapo models that doesn’t have a ton of suction? I had a cat who loved it. Didn’t hurt her a bit, though we never got it near her face. As far as against the natural grain of the fur – there are plenty of grooming tips out there that involve backbrushing. Unless the cat has very sensitive skin it shouldn’t be that big an issue. *shrugs* It only pulls off the dead hair if you’re not psychotic enough to use one of the heavy duty cleaners.

  28. Leafdancer says:

I recognize that vacuum cleaner. It’s an Electrolux that’s probably at least 30 years old. At this point, the suction on it is so weak that it’s no wonder it’s not freaking out the cat. I know because I had one just like up until two years ago.

  29. chizpita806 says:

Kitteh has deff? ai ar keriuss abowt wie lowd noyzies not skerr it.

  30. Aifinkso teh trik iz habsin central vac nawt lowd vac.

    • Esprix says:

    • Nennepus says:

    • EB says:

That’s FAR safer than the first vid – Brush on the end and stay away from the face!

  32. bluemanxcat says:

    what a goofball kitty! cute!

  33. BAReFOOt says:

Warning, if you suck at her face, her eye might pop out. or her sinuses blood vessels might burst, etc. This thing is more dangerous for a cat than you think!

    • BAReFOOt says:

If you don’t believe me, put a big vacuum cleaner on full power, and put it on your eye! If you then still have one, imagine it much much stronger!

  34. ihazagoggie says:

I wish my dog would let me do that – would cut down on ALOT of shedding!!!!

  35. Mrs. McGinty says:

I’ve seen the Kitty Rides A Roomba vid and wondered if maybe Kitty was deaf, and that’s why the noise doesn’t bother her. Maybe that’s one thing that’s going on here too (I’m watching without sound so I don’t know if kitty is responding to noises). It may also work if, as someone mentioned, it’s a central vac, or if the hose is very long and the unit itself is in another room.

I think it can be done safely if it’s in the hands of a responsible hyooman handling it carefully and it seems like a great solution to shedding if you can get Kitty to cooperate. I would *not* try this with a Dyson, but maybe with an old machine or one that has chronically low suction.

You could put an old stocking over the hose end, that would add safety, muffle the suction even more and be even gentler to the cat. But then you’d have to have a piece of newspaper or something on hand when you shut off the vacuum, to catch all the hairs that will fall off because they aren’t actually being sucked into the machine.

    • Mingcat says:

My old Siamese loved to get vacuumed, but only after she was stone deaf.. so yeah, the noise is more than likely the big thing to them.

    • wombat says:

The cat we had when I was a kid could hear perfectly well – he came running when the vacuum was switched on and demanded his cleanup! I think it just depends on the cat. Maybe it reminds them of a mumcat’s rough cleanup :)

On safety – don’t know about the eyeballs but I’d never hoover around the ears for fear of damaging the eardrum. Oh and we used the brush attachment cos it was better at dislodging loose fur than just the nozzle :)

    • slupine says:

The cat we had who loved to be vaccuumed could hear just fine. I think some cats are just weird and not scared of loud noises.

My boyfriend used to have a cat who would RIDE on the vaccuum. O.o

  36. Rae-Rae Kitty says:

omg i swear that’s my neighbor’s cat, Spit! Looks just like him & he loves the vacuum too.

  37. theclules1 says:

I used to have a cat that loved being vacuumed, she would purr like crazy.

  38. plr says:

My mom used to vacuum all four of our kittehs- now my kidz can see I wasn’t lyin’!

  39. silllywhiskers says:

I use the brush attachment on my cleaner so it’s not directly sucking on his loose skin areas, eye balls, etc. I can see how open hose without an attachment could be dangerous with a higher powered, newish vac. My kitty cautiously enjoys it. :-)

  40. Angelmama says:

mai kitteh HATES teh vacuum (or ‘teh blak beest’ as wees callin it). She kreepies bai on her tippieest tohsies an does nebber taek her ais off ov it. We teeses her bai maykin a loud kissie noyse as she goes bai an watches her jumpin *hai in teh ayer*!!1! We laffs an laffs an nebber gets taiered ob dis joek.

  41. Zuby says:

Must make for interesting cleaning of the vacuum cleaner bag, I would think.

Our kitteh (RIP) used to really love being brushed with the broom.

    • slupine says:

Hey, it’s gonna get cat hair in it anyway. Why not right from the source? lol

My mom’s cat likes the broom too. He’s a strange animal… mom will be sweeping and he’ll run right in the way of it.

  42. MC says:

What a stupid, irresponsible act. No doubt it will be perpetuated by other irresponsible, stupid pet owners. You should take your cat to the nearest animal welfare center as you are too stupid and irresponsible to own pets. And you should be reported to the relevant authorities for cruelty to animals. It won’t be very funny or amusing when your cat loses an eye or sustains internal damage because you think it’s clever to vacuum it. And for all of you who gave this video the ‘thumbs up’ vote – you’re just as irresponsible and stupid. You don’t really care about your pets do you?

    • krelm says:

      ya know,this is an accepted grooming method… h ttp://www.nextag.com/pet-grooming-vacuum/stores-html and h ttp://www.1seenontvstore.com/pet-buddy.html
i googled ‘cat’s eye sucked out by vacuum’, and aside from people doing it to themselves, the top search responses led back to this lol!
      .
      GITCHER CAIK HERE!!!

  43. gtpdspin says:

    This is hideously irresponsible.

  44. avis says:

What kind of an idiot runs a vacuum next to their pet’s face? Do you not care about it’s eyes or ears? You should have a vacuum suck at your eyes for a while.

  45. CheeseLovesCompany says:

LOL! XD! It nearly got the eye and sucked it out! woops that would have ended badly. poor kitteh

  46. Katy says:

Lol i bet that prevents a lot of shedding

  47. Nim says:

Be extremely careful if you ever do this, coz the suction can remove eyes. I imagine the person on the video had their vaccuum cleaner on a very low setting.

  48. Jen says:

Ohhhhhhhh My God I winced so hard. ANY VACUUM with a hose like that created enormous suction. Some models have “safety vents” on the sides of the hose/tube to prevent 100% suction but this was still a bad idea.

Doesn’t matter if the kitty loves it or NOT, this is not safe. DO NOT get a vacuum tube or hose that close to ANY living beings eyes.

  49. My cat love the vacuum too!

  50. Merlin_96 says:

That last couple seconds, where the cat gets it’s eye socket sucked by the vacuum was scary. I would hope the owner would be more careful not to let that happen again. Other than that, this was really funny! This cat is obviously a dog born in a cat’s body. I’ve known dogs who enjoy being vacuumed, but never a cat!

  51. Cheesnaps says:

OMG hiz aiball wuz almost suked owt! ….at leest u don hafta worry abowt harballz. :-)

  52. ranipaints says:

  57. Sarah says:

PLUS its a great way to get rid of that hair in the hotter seasons. the cat lovesit. LOVES IT. you move and he goes to it..if the catno like the vaccy. It run awayhahahah GREAT!!!

  58. Blondie says:

Darling! But *ouch*, be careful of the baby’s eyes.

  59. Missy says:

Just be careful you don’t give kitteh vacuum hickeys

  60. Lauren says:

Oh god, I actually winced when the vacuum was near it’s eye. That could’ve ended so badly.
