Ther is lots of LOTR lubbers here in cheezland. I has nawt red teh books in yeerz, but I has them at home. I wonders if I wuld think diffrently of teh karakters when reeding teh buk, nao that I has seen teh recent movie vershuns. (Oh yesh, I lubs teh movies – I watches teh hole set at leest 2 or 3 tymes a yeer.)

A gud buk will pull yoo in every tyme. I am currently re-reading Isak Dinesen’s Out of Africa. Teh verreh furst line pulls me in. I kin hear Meryl Streep’s voyce speeking it.

“I had a farm in Africa, at the foot of the Ngong Hills.”

Is lyke poetry to me. There is anuther line I kant remember zackly, but is sumthing like this. It speeks to impermanence, to her sorrow at leaving beautiful Afrika behynd:

“Someday, will the sky wear the color of a dress that I had on? And will the eagles of the Ngong Hills look out for me?” (apollygeez, it is not zact)

Iz not a perfekt storeh, of korse. As I re-reads it, I sees sum racism in it that I did nawt mebbe notiss before. But it has sum lublee wurd-pikshors. I has nawt bin to Afrika, but it sownds beyootiful.
