  15. Snoop says:

    Awwesum!

  16. Rosebud says:

*LOLSPEAK OFF* I have to agree, it’s one thing to show a trick or somesuch that a cat does on its own – like opening the food bag when no one is looking – and another completely to see a human train the cat to do tricks just to eat (and most cat owners know a cat won’t do anything so rediculous unless absolutely necessary). Dogs enjoy working and learning new things and tricks. Cats just want to be worshipped.

    • Qu says:

To be honest, it just looks like good exercise, and even cats need that. Though teaching them to knock stuff over to get food is probably a bad idea imho.

  17. Hm… no can lukk at bideo nao, ai in class, but in jenral — sum kittehs haz lots uv fun wif traynings.

  18. maralisil says:

That was a clever girl kitteh, if I saw my colors correctly! Is this another Japanese entry?

  19. lindalgm says:

This is so wrong. That cat seemed so hungry. How would you like performing tricks for a meal? I’m sorry I watched. Poor cat needs a more humane owner.

  20. Jessica says:

Wow, how long did it take to train the kitty?? I tried to read the other comments to see if it was mentioned, but I just can’t stand having to sound out every other word. Seriously, I think lolspeak should be limited to short phrases…perhaps only allowed as captions.

  21. Sillywhiskers says:

My kitteh does tricks, too! When he wants food, he rams my leg with his head, dives between my feet, and performs unparalleled vocalization. Pretty smart, huh?

  22. Indulgedkitty says:

    Mean!! HISSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. tongueflap says:

Wut ar teh kitteh’z naym? Rube Goldberg? Tihs wuz funnee.

  24. luvscritters says:

It’s not cruel. Think how much time that owner spent with the cat to teach all that. My cats love when I have time for them.

My cats get their nightly gushifud after Munchkin gets up in my lap, rubs affectionately on my face, walks back and forth on my laptop, meows in my face, and endures being pushed aside with “it’s not time yet” about six times.

Not all that different from a leap through a hoop and rubbing against a pitcher. It’s not like the cat endured an electric shock to get its food.

And the way my four gallop in when I ask “Who wants their goodies?” you’d think they were starved too, but they just like their gushifud. They have dry available 24/7.

So don’t read the cat’s enthusiasm for starvation. He just knew what was behind box #1 and knew how to get it.

I thought it a funny video and a clever cat. What do you think they do to train cats for movies?

  25. Wetpixels says:

    Thaz mezzed up.

  26. Starry says:

Wow, people actually think this is mistreatment? Cats actually don’t mind being trained as long as there’s something in it for them. My cats can sit on command, stand on their hind legs, and meow on call. As long as there’s food or a toy they’re happy to do it! They enjoy the attention as well. Both are happy and well fed at all times. How is this cruel? Cats have to do more work in the wild than a few simple requests. Remember that.

What’s really cruel is having to scroll down and read the lolspeakers. Now that’s punishment right there. :P

    • Banu says:

You’re absolutely right, on both counts. Actually, many cats find the intellectual stimulation of puzzle solving to be quite rewarding. For someone who was born to stalk and hunt, just having dinner served up on a plate and handed to them can get kind of boring. We joke about human slaves and all, but there is a psychological satisfaction in getting your own food. I throw my kitty’s nightly treats around the living room so that she can experience the thrill of the chase and “kill.”

This owner has put a lot of time in with her cat, and her cat is lucky for that! From the looks of it, quite happy too. A lot of cats start meowing like crazy when they know food is on the way- it’s because they’re excited. An unhappy kitty would have had a much more plaintive note in her mew. People who thought that was a cry of distress clearly don’t know their kitty vocalizations or body language very well.

  27. idleXhope says:

A house kitty should never have to go through that much trouble just to get its food. O.o

  28. ThePoorThing says:

dis type ov hoomin likes to go to teh circus and tinks animals being chaind and whipped to do tricks for teh audience is perfickly ok. He eets peenuts and smiles while he watchez. Tinks dats a fun ting todo.

  29. kitkatCC says:

Call teh kitteh abuse line. And hooman needs to get a life.

    • Rebecca says:

lol, thats what cats do for fun, have u ever looked at ur door step and see a dead rat from ur cat? they LIKE to work for there food! its not abuse, its training, think about, do u think training ur dog to sit is abuse? its the same thing, but cats like to do it

  30. Pepe says:

    Dat’s a smart kitteh awlright.
Dat’s also a kitteh owner wit waaaaai too much time on his hands, I think.

  31. GunnzAkimbo says:

    Trikkeh Kitteh

  32. angelzrealm says:

my kitteh likes to knock stuff over for fun. no training needed! =p

  33. chendie says:

it’s like this cat was born to be a contestant on legends of the hidden temple.

  34. rew says:

She wurks haard for de gushi, so haard for de gushi! She wurks hard liddle pusseh so yud bedder treat her rite!

  35. Michelle says:

    awww, cute smart kitty!

  36. Shawna says:

So did you starve the poor cat to make him learn these tricks? Sick.

  37. Yes but how good is he at walking on a leash?

  38. Krull says:

So .. they’ve tought their cat to push vases down when hungry? That should make for some entertainment when they’re late for feeding.

  39. Laura says:

Alrighty, then…? ODD. And, the point of this was….?

  40. Meowie says:

If anything it’s cruel NOT to train your cat like this.

Too many people just plop food down in front of their cats and then ignore them. In the wild, cats have to chase down and kill their food, so this makes the meal far more satisfying for the kitty, since he’s earned it.

Training cats isn’t easy, and it’s certainly not something that could be done if the cat wasn’t 100% willing to literally or figuratively “jump through hoops” for you. They do it because it’s fun. You can’t force a cat to do ANYTHING.

  41. terry davis says:

I hope you guys are going to do a calendar for Xmas.

  42. mowmacat says:

That waz cute! do iz again!

  43. Catdefender says:

How long did they starve their cat before it would ‘perform’? The cat did look desperate…just sayin.

  44. compromisinglie says:

but it can’t open the first door itself?

  45. Cilla says:

I think this was very cute and funny :) and just like Meowie said, cat doesn’t do ANYTHING if it don’t want to. If dog thinks it’s a king, cat thinks it’s God. So… And just like somebody said, cats do what they want to. : / I think EVERYBODY who owns cat, they should know that u can’t just say to ur kitty, what to do. I think u guys are just jealous cuz ur cats doesn’t do anything like that.

  46. kev says:

Wow what a big surprise, a vegan hater spreads disinformation about veganism and abuses a companion animal. first of all veganism is not a cult. secondly cats are true carnivores and should NOT be fed a vegan diet. thirdly i question the “training” of the cat how was it done but more importantly why? how does this enrich the cats life. did i miss all of the other cats on this planet that literally jump through hoops as a normal and natural way of getting food?

    ps
to the vegan hater what did that cat ever do do to be “trained” to be forced to beg(preform) for food, and why do degrade people that have compassion for all life that never caused you harm?

  47. Di says:

Food is a really good motivator. I wish I could train my cat to poop in the toilet.

  48. Robin says:

First of all, the cat is a she (all calicos are female). Second, does she look like a starving cat? I mean really, just look: that is not a starving cat. So why all the eagerness from a well-fed cat for a few bites of food? Could it be she enjoys this game? Well, that’s how it looked to me — kitty likes to show off her athletic prowess, give herself a neck rub, then claim a reward. I’ll bet she enjoys all the attention!

  49. fillygirl says:

Iz amazing what uz hoomins put kittehs tru for som fudz..
