I live in Korea, and when I first came here the written form of the language was an impenetrable collection of syllables. This does not mean I thought Korean was a fake, stupid, or made-up language; it just looked like gibberish to me. No one is saying that Welsh is stupid, or not a real language; they are just saying that to an untrained person it’s impossible to read.

(And, by the way, being supersensitive and disallowing jokes isn’t going to help people become more familiar with your language; it’s just going to make people think that you’re really sensitive about it. If you really want to promote understanding, why don’t you acknowledge the difficulty Welsh can present to outsiders, laugh cheerfully about the confusion inherent in second-language study, and get to educatin’? As is evidenced by this entire thread, the vast majority of people here find languages fascinating and would love to learn more about yours.)
