I think that Jim has every right to be upset. I was saying simply that the way he went about it was rude, and it would have been worse if he hadn’t come back and apologized for coming across as rude.
He has said that he should have watermarked his image but Deviantart didn’t have that option at the time. It does now, so another suggestion has been made that he should resubmit his work as an updated version with a watermark to prevent this from happening in the future.

Being a Deviantart artist myself, I totally understand what he’s trying to say.

Well, if Mr. Loomis is OK with that, then fine. But if he’s not, it’s the job of the site to remove the image from the main page and the LOL Builder. not the job of the copyright holder to accept having his image taken and used without permission. It’s not fair to just say, “Well, somebody put it on the LOL Builder and now almost 200 people have captioned it, so even if it should never have been on the site in the first place, it’s too late to do anything about it now.”

I’m so sorry that this has happend to you, Jim.
You should get the credit for this amazing picture,not the person who stole it from you, and is depriving a worthwhile cause of much needed profits.

Also…..The Kitteh in this pic of yours is EXACTLY what my Hazel would have looked like as a Baybee,I’m sure

I wish I could’ve done it when I submitted the original, but DA did not have that feature. Furthermore, it will not let me add the watermark at this point. Therefore, I have two choices:

1. Fight the criminals (and those who support them) who steal work.

2. Remove and/or resubmit my work.

ya… Also this would teach other artists to properly watermark their artwork. Deviantart has an “Add Watermark” option when submitting an art piece.

Sorry, but you’re the pissy one. I have every right to be angry about a stolen image that sells for charity. I could care less about referrals from a sight that easily allows stolen intellectual property to be modified and redistributed without proper source verification and permission. I’m not stopping anyone from enjoying this site, but I will stop people from taking money out of a donation effort, which is EXACTLY what this person has done by STEALING this image.

Hey guys, I honestly didn’t mean to sound rude, but copyright infringement to an artist is very important. I realize that this site was just for fun, but the rude way in which this person has stolen, modified, and redistributed an image without due credit just kills me. Not only is it a stolen image, but it is an image which sells for charity!!! Not crediting the original creator is immeasurably more rude than me defending myself on this site.

I donate all profit from this image (and most of my other prints) to Camp S.T.A.R. (Summer Time Amputee Retreat). Stealing this image is akin to taking the money right away from the camp. Someone from deviantart pointed this out to me. If someone else had their work stolen and put onto this site (or any other site), I would be just as rude.

Thanks to those who told me about the copyright reporting link. I’ve already submitted my request to have it removed.

Look Jim we were trying to be polite. There are much more polite ways to say that you would like the image removed , because the current way in which you have chosen to say it is in no way at all polite. Now that may not have been your intent but that is how it is coming across.

I, myself, am a Deviantart artist, so I do know that there are different ways to credit the image, and I do know what you’re trying to say. As AngelPlume said, you can click on the link that says[b] Incorrect Source or Offensive[/b] and Kindly ask the owners of the website to have the picture removed, instead of seeming incredibly rude to anyone here.

Oh don’t get all pissy. Just use the link at the top of the page to inform the powers-that-be and they’ll update the credit line to you. I never heard of “Jim Loomis and his deviant art website” before now, and you could have used this oversight by some less-than-knowlegeable cheezpeep to bring yourself some more publicity by being featured on a famous site full of cat-loving people, but now we all know what a jerk you are and will stay far away your website.

I appreciate the suggestions, but I think that this website should obey the law and simply remove the image. I did not give permission to “Cameron” to modify my image (of which I sell prints for charity).

Legal action can be taken if copyright infringement has not been dealt with by the host of this site.

PLEASE REMOVE MY IMAGE.
