“Yesterday I got a new kitteh. It seemed a little
early to me after losing Esme but Liam was a lonely boy. So I had been
looking at various sites for a rescue kitteh around his same age. I
was interested in either a tuxedo, which I have never had before, or a
Snowshoe, a Siamese offshoot breed that I first learned of through
some lols, actually. On Monday I looked again at the Snowshoe list and
in addition to most of the ones I had already seen was a new one. I
knew at first sight that I had to have her.”

“Elsie” crossed my mind, but isn’t quite the thing. Makes me think of
cows. Yesterday morning when I was driving to work and thinking of
names for the kitty who at that point I only knew from her picture, I
noticed a bird on the sidewalk and said “o hai, robin.” Robin! Whut a
perfect name! Has “rob” in it, was the name of a masked sidekick, she
was coming to me in teh spring, etc. The BF liked it also, but when I
actually saw her, she was much too soft and sweet for such a
hard-sounding name. We had a looooooong drive home with her (I live in
No. VA, she was in foster care just north of Baltimore) so we batted
around a bunch of other names. My two favorites are Geordie — which
yes is a boy’s name but really seems to suit her, plus which she was
found in Prince George’s County, MD, and my geeky BF said there was a
Geordie in Star Trek TNG who wore a mask/goggles — and Bastille –
which is of course a famous prison (the boyfriend was naming prisons
just to be funny) and also has “steal” in it plus “Bast”, an Egyptian
cat deity, and is also Fronsch, which is a language I have a
connection with.”

Teh n00b still does not have an official name. At the shelter she was “Bandita.” I’m leaning right now toward “Dulcie” because she is sweet, and it also sounds a little like “Elsie” but I dunno.
She and Liam are getting acquainted slowly. He is intrigued by her; she still hisses at him and swatted at him once. She’s only 6 months old and hopefully will in time learn that he is her kitteh fren and warm up to him moar. But he is calm in her presence. Esme raised him rite!
