That said, sometimes I prefer to use proper English, especially if I’m explaining something relatively serious… or if I’m really tired …. or if I’ve got a nasty headache.
I disagree. I don’t want to judge lolspeak in any way. Yes, it is hard to read in the beginning, but I got used to it fairly quickly. And I’m German, so English is already a foreign language for me. I enjoy being able to “let my hair down” with lolspeak. You don’t have to use lolspeak yourself if you don’t want to, that’s just fine, but I doubt you will have much success persuading the rest of us to stop using what has become our language among friends.
