She’s fine. The “ear bra” was just for a couple of days to hold some gauze dressings. She goes back to work tomorrow, and gets the stitches out Tuesday. The surgeon did an excellent job: her hair falls over the post, and the permanently bald area will only be about the size of a quarter.
That’s teh rly gud news, but lemme axe u this: at any time during her procedure was there… SMOKE coming out of any part of her?

Funny you should ask. Mrs. Maus was doing research on the procedure, and the company that makes this device had all sorts of warnings about the maximum speed for the drill. If the bone gets too hot, the device won’t anchor correctly. Probably TMI, but what the heck…

Maus, I misted whut proseedjur Mrs. maus has undergone. What wuz it? And I hopes whutebber it wuz, it works nd she iz happy and helfy.
She is getting a BAHA, which is a special hearing aid that uses bone conduction to transmit sound from a sound processor on the deaf side to the good ear. The surgical procedure is to implant a titanium post in the mastoid bone behind the deaf ear. Once the bone heals around the post (about 3-4 months), she will get the sound procssing unit, which clips to the post. It’s really an amazing device.
