OK, I need to “be real” for a sec. This procedure will (mostly) restore her hearing on her left side!!!! She’s getting a really cool kind of hearing prosthesis called a BAHA (Wikikpedia is your friend). But as part of it, they have to screw a titanium post into her mastoid bone, which is what is happening tomorrow. Once the bone grows/heals around the post (about 3 months), a special “hearing aid” attaches to the post, and she can hear through bone conduction, almost as “goos as new”. I’ve tried it, and it is SO COOL. I HATE doctors and surgery and etc., but I would do this in A MINUTE.

I’m a fan of surgery, if it’s the right thing… I had back surgery 5 years ago. It was like a miracle.
Cold feet, I think. She has looked forward to this for 2 years, ever since we heard about the device. We have fought the insurance peeps etc., and cleared schedules and… and… and… etc. She’s been trying to pick a fight with me all night, too. I have resisted (successfully), but… SHEESH! WIMMINS!!!
