Not naive — just inexperienced (thankfully so) with emotional abuse. It’s so hard to see what’s going on from within the relationship until you’ve been there quite a while. It’s NOT your fault, and there’s nothing wrong with YOU.

[/lolspeak] It’s easy to rationalize the abuse away if it’s not physical abuse — and harder to get yourself out of that situation before it gets even worse. Please please please get out any (safe) way you can. The longer you stay in that situation with your little boy watching, the greater the chance your son will grow up thinking it’s “normal” or “acceptable” to treat women like that. I was lucky enough to get out of an emotionally abusive relationship (which I didn’t diagnose until I was out) — life is SO much better when you don’t feel like you’re being watched/controlled/suspected.
