First of all, my apologies for telling you that I was going to kick your butt. I was trying to inject a bit of levity, but I chose the wrong method of doing so. For that, I’m sorry.

Secondly, if the photograph has not been Photoshopped, or the fur does not increase the size of the cat, then this cat may indeed be overweight.

At this juncture, I would like to point out that that in this particular case it is the responsibility of the individual pet owner to decide how he or she is going to look after their pet – just like we decide how we are going to look after our children. However, criticising an animal (or child) based on its appearance, or blaming a pet owner (or a parent) for unhealthy habits does not, and will not ever, encourage anyone to adopt different behaviour patterns.

it’s a fact. It’s a fat cat. There’s nothing healthy about it. And while it is harder to get a cat to lose weight, you can still get them to lose weight. the owners are the ones that feed them, and are responsible. It’s not judgmental to point out a fact that the cat is grossly overweight. on ihasahotdog, fat dogs are called fat and no one defends them, they point out that the owners are to blame. Why is it acceptable for a cat to be obese but it isn’t for a dog?

any pet owner who allows their animal to become obese is abusing them in the very worst way possible. Period. Regardless of the reasons – it’s not used to having food, you can’t force it to exercise, etc – these should be the very reasons to PROTECT the kitteh that you love, and care about – not tourture it to the point that it is miserable. It’s not judgmental – it’s honesty.

i would never allow my cats to get that huge – period. They’ve both been fixed and have maintained their sexy, sleek figures. They get treats, they get good meals, but it’s within reason. They’ve never had reasons to overeat, and i’ve never given them an opportunity. Both of them were rescue cats, as well – and again, are wonderful.

I just don’t understand why someone points out the truth and it’s automatically a troll. That’s not the point. Bad pet ownership should never be rewarded with comments about how the camera adds eleven pounds.
