She’s still breathing on her own with a CPAP machine. Nic was
holding her skin to skin today and she was pulling on his chest
hairs. She is eating 16ml of mother’s milk (go me!) every 3 hours
over half an hour.
I’ve been talking to other moms and telling them that I’m a preemie
too, and not to give up hope. I even went to a Prema-Quebec meet and
greet. Prema-Quebec is an organization started by a mom who had two
preemies. It’s a support group too for parents of preemies created
by parents of preemies
I did talk to a mom yesterday and today. Her son was born at term
with oomphalocele. This means he came out with his intestines on the
outside. He’s not doing very well right now and they may lose him
within a week. I was wondering if anyone had beems to spare could
they send them to Theodore at Ste. Justine? I think it will help him
and his family.

French Vichyssoise
The Famous Summer Soup of France
3 leeks, washed well
1 onion, finely chopped
3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
4 cups chicken stock
1 oz. butter
salt and pepper
1 cup cream
1/4 tsp. mace
2 Tbls. chopped chives
Chop the white parts of the well-washed leeks.
Melt butter in saucepan and saute leeks and onion gently. Do not allow to brown!
Add potatoes and stock. Bring to boil and simmer, covered, 30 minutes.
Whizz in blender or put through a sieve. Add seasonings and cream and reheat gently. Do NOT boil.
Serve very cold, sprinkled with chopped chives.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes Serves: 4
