Kinda depends on the zoo. A place that creates the best and most natural habitat it can for the animals, gives them lots of enrichment stuff, and generally makes sure they’re happy and healthy… that I have no problem with. Zoos doing that are helping enormously with some endangered animal species. A bit less freedom, but also less risk of injury, illness, starvation, fighting with competitors, predators, old age being immediately fatal, poachers, loss of territory to human encroachment, and all that stuff. It’s a tradeoff.
Zoos that are concrete boxes with iron bars, on teh ovver paw – DO NAWT WANT.
