Dear friends: I am writing from the hospital emergency room. My boyfriend found out last weekend he had life-threatening abdominal abscesses and needed surgery but had no insurance. He was in the hospital last weekend for drainage of one abscess; a larger one (size of cantaloupe) needed to wait for more expert surgeons and better facilities. Bad news: he had no insurance. We went straight from the hospital Monday to get our marriage license. Today we got married by a district court judge, then went home to change clothes, then went straight to the emergency room. Local medical facility here not equipped to do necessary surgery, so he is being transferred to Hershey Medical Center tonight. I just kissed him good-bye as he was loaded into the back of the ambulance for transport. The doctor here called the situation “a ticking time bomb.” Please pray for us and hold us up in the light. I will keep you updated as I am able. I am headed home now. Connection not good from there, so may not be back online for a few days.

Some good news.
My new husband is now safely in the hands of medical professionals who handle this type of medical crisis stuff on a routine basis. We are peaceful now, knowing he is getting the very best care.
The doctor told him the huge abscess is SHRINKING!! With continued antibiotics and a few days’ rest, they may be able to drain the abscess now, send him home, and do the more major surgery on his intestines at a later date when he is stable.
As of the day of our wedding, my husband is completely covered by my excellent medical insurance. Oh, and my groom’s dad promised to pay for the first hospital bill ($11 thousand for a 2-day stay!) as our wedding present.
Cheez-peeps, I thank you for your support and your loving thoughts. I will share more news as I have it, and I will hope to be back online having fun with all of you sometime soon.
