You’ve already received a lot of great advice. Ultimately, you’re the only one who can decide what’s best for Remy. Your vet is going to be your resource for Remy’s physical prognosis: how long he will likely live with his various health issues and what his chances are of passing peacefully whenever his time does come. Determining Remy’s quality of life falls to you. You know what your cat enjoys doing, what he does when he’s happy, what signs mean he’s not happy. At the moment, your impression seems to be that he is not in pain and is content. If that’s the case, you probably don’t need to worry about amking any final decisions just yet. The reasons to euthanize a pet are to end suffering or to prevent oncoming, inevitable future suffering. If Remy is not in pain and seems happy right now, you don’t need to worry. Take some time, see how he adjusts to the crib and any future changes you need to make, and keep an eye on him. If he remains happy and pain free and your vet says there is no danger of him worsening anytime soon, there is no reason he can’t continue on living with his new lifestyle.

Remember, if you eventually do find yourself in the situation where Remy is or shortly will be in pain or unable to enjoy his life with little or no chance of recovery, helping him die is not giving up on him; it’s making sure that his inevitable passing is as painless as possible. It is never easy to deal with this, but we’re all here for you, through the good times and the bad. I home you have many more of the former.
