Voice of experience – don’t wait too long to find out what is wrong, as it doesn’t take very long for cats to get dangerously dehydrated and weak. If he is already very thin, then it is probably something that won’t just go away by itself. I don’t know if Appollo is old or young. Several years ago I had a young one (2 years old) that got quiet and wouldn’t eat, nothing obviously wrong, so I waited, but I waited too long and he didn’t make it. I still feel guilty, even though the vet said that he probably would have died anyway. Then my older kitty started getting thin, and I took him to the vet. Luckily it was just a loose tooth, but, like I told him, why didn’t you tell me you had a toothache before instead of just quietly suffering and losing weight and I could have had something done a lot sooner? But, you know kitties – they only complain about the unimportant stuff and don’t say anything when things are really bothering them. Trips to the vet aren’t fun for anyone, but the alternative can be a lot worse! Don’t mean to be a negative nanny, and I really hope that Appollo is feline better soon! {{Jimmba and Appollo}}

I have to second what Harry said – if he’s lost enough weight to be noticeably thin, and isn’t eating much and has gone all quiet, a trip to the vet ASAP would be a good plan. They do dehydrate awfully quickly if they’re sick. Vet trips are expensive and they’re stressful but sometimes sooner rather than later can make all the difference.
