May I offer generic apologies to any who were offended by the comments which suggested that the contact between the two pandas was anything other than a adult child embrace. However, on this site anthropomorphizing is a common practice and the ambiguity of the caption, and perhaps the photo as well, left much room for speculation as to how these two pandas were ’saving the species’.

While I have no statistics to support this position I would venture the guess that virtually no one who frequents this site is so naive as to be unaware of where kittens or puppies or baby pandas come from or how they came to be there. So if the prurient nature of some comments is offensive to some, please consider that the puritanical nature of some readers can be an equal burden to others. Many have clamped down significantly and made their comments more conservative so most comments are rated G, PG, or PG-13. Perhaps the Cheezpeeps at the less liberal end of the spectrum could ease up commensurately. I think that cutting loose would be wrong and people would leave, and that clamping down is just as wrong and would have the same result.
