We definitely hear your dissatisfaction with the new voting pages, and we do appreciate any feedback that you have. We’re hoping that the new voting system can bring more of a community to the site and we’re continuing to improve the new voting system with user feedback.

We’ll check out why the skip button is so slow also.

Here is some background of why we changed to the new voting system:

In February, we launched a new beta voting page on ICHC. The test was such a huge success that we’re switching all of our voting pages to the new model, with (of course) your feedback incorporated.

Since the creation of our ICHC accounts, this is the biggest change to the system we’re making. We know that not all of you like the new style of voting. Even though we want to please everyone, we made this decision because we believe the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.

The benefits:

1. Virtually all submitted lolz will receive voting feedback. No more waiting to see if you lol made it to voting. They all do!
2. New content to vote on 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week
3. Your votes dictate 100% of what shows up on the homepage. We’re turning the controls over to you.
4. You can see as many lolz as your heart’s content (practically unlimited)
5. The more you vote, the more influence you have over the fate of the lolz
6. We won’t show you the same lol twice! (Unless someone submitted it twice)

The drawbacks:

1. You can’t just browse lolz in the voting system without actually voting
2. It takes longer to see a set of 10 lolz
3. You can’t go back to a lol you voted on (although Add to Favorites is available so you can keep track of the lolz you like)
4. Only registered users can vote

Here are the major changes:
WUT: The new voting system uses what we call a clickety-click model. (You click, we show you another image).
Y? We receive far more submissions than we can ever post on the old voting pages. If you create a lol, we believe you deserve feedback about your lolz. This is our #1 most often emailed complaint. Because most visitors just scan and don’t actually vote on those pages, we don’t have enough feedback to give to the users who maded those lolz.
So WUT? We implemented the new voting system on Pundit Kitchen and the average user votes on more than 100 lolz (!!!1!) each time they enter the voting widget. That means virtually everyone who created a lol will get feedback on their lolz. WOW!
The downside: It’ll take more clicks to view the same number of images, and you cannot go back to a lol you’ve already voted on. But we’ve kept the ability to favorite and copy images to your blog so you can share it with friends.

WUT: We remember all the lolz you’ve seen to never show the same lol twice. Also, the more you vote, the more influence you have on the fate on the lol. This is only possible with registration.
Y? We like to reward our users who participate in the community. In the beta, you asked us to never show the same lol twice. So we maded it so.
So WUT? If you haven’t registered with ICHC already, please do it now. And kittens never send spam. Period. Remember, the more you vote, the more influence you have over the fate of a lol. (It’s our secrety-magicity forumla)

Changes maded based on your feedback:

1. Don’t show the same lol twice.
2. Favorite button moved to the main image
3. Page load speed increased so it takes less time to vote
4. Embed code (copy and paste code) added
5. Logging in will not kick you out of voting
6. Won’t reveal vote/score until you’ve voted to minimize influence from others

Changes we’re still working on:

1. The ability to navigate voting images back and forth
2. Easier, quicker registration
