Oh peeps, I needs a group hug, ’cause I has such a sad.
Kitteh looks like 9 yr old, Nermal, they PTS yesterday. Discarded by her ‘mom’ along with her sister, 8 yr old, Mittens. So scared, they just huddled in their cage with huge owl eyes. I talked and scritched Nermal into purring and making kitty bread. Mittens let me touch her, too. But time is not on kittehs side at a shelter, they were combative to all other peeps, so it was their turn. I ‘helped’ get them from their cage so there would be less trauma to them. I gave Nermal one last scritch and started my weekend by crying for 30 miles until I got home.
I call every pupper/kitteh by their name for their short stay, whether they go out the front door by rescue or out the back by PTS. They had love from Shaungrl at the end. And that little bit of love and dignity is why I’ll stay the whole six weeks at this job reassignment. I’m also there to make the permanent peep’s job easier on them. I’ve watched them and they all are caring peeps towards every pup/kit who comes through.

{{{Shaungrl}}} You are a much stronger person than I could ever be. A horrible, horribe thing to deal with and you made their “last few” happy and secure. You’re my hero. Their own person did not have the caring, grace, or decency to seek another solution for their care but you gave them comfort, dignity, and warmth. I weep with you and thank you for having the courage and strength to do what I could not.
Big hugs to you, and thanks for showing Nermal and Mittens love and caring during their last times.

Ai iz sorre u haz a sad, but it givz me a happy to hear from such a kind heart. This was a sad end for two kittehs who didn’t deserve it, but you did the right thing – giving them as much love and comfort as they would accept in their last hours. Being in a shelter does provide some level of comfort. It would have been so much worse for the kittehs had indoor raised cats just been dumped on the rood to starve or (as is more likely around here) to be eaten by the coyotes.
