Yes – if dey wants to just call the BSG ass-kicking pilot Kara, or Athena (who USED to be Adama’s daughter on old series’ now a baby half-cylon, izn’t she?). Fine. I beleeves in womens who kan kick ass and takes names. But why names her after the established male character? I liked da original Starbuck – handsum, charmin’, cigar-smoking, skeeming, dashing young man who could handle two dates at one time – wid da commander’s daughter and wid da, ahem, socialator. (And of course, eventually the beautiful but brainy (hey, she was an officer!) lost out to the blonde floozy soshalator.

I likes da new BSG, but the uniforms be nowhere near as cool as old ones, and WHEN IS DA BLASTED SHOW COMING BACK!!!! Didn’t they say November, that got pushed to December; there was one episode that wuz “spechul” cuz it waz about the other battlestar, now it be the end of February, and I still hears nothin abou new epysodes! (Though after knowing the old series, the thought of Apollo and Starbuck making each others spines glow in da dark…..well, I don’t knoes whut to say. Kind of like if in new Star Trek movie, they make Spock a female, and she and Kirk……..NOOOOOOOEEEEESSSSSSS!

i never saw teh old Batulstar Galacatcica, but it seems kind of camp. New BSG is serious, and has gud acting (imho), and berry intresing ishues bubbling under teh surface b out teh human-ness and its alternative, about torshure and miffology and stuff.

All teh stuf that makes gud sci-fi so much fun.

Hai again, Mary, House of Spock – Yur haus be like mair haus before I married my huzband – I received only broadcast television. Huzband came along, insisted on kable. I wuz stunned at da thought of paying to watch television, but da History channel, discovery channel, sci-fi, etc helped me recover mai wits. THEN huzband ends up wid TWO satelite dishes to receive foreign tv (although I taps into one for my b0rg and Star Fleets transmissions), AND he just signed up for digital cable. I just can’ts believe anyone needs that many programmings possiblities….

ANYWAY – The new Battlestar Galactica haz things in common wid da old: dere be kommander Adama, and hiz son Apollo; but in da new series, Apollo’s real name is Lee, and he’s usually quite da wuss. Starbuck underwent quite da transformation: iz now a she, and she can kick everyone’s ass, including wishy-washy Lee, er Apollo. Baltar haz turned into a trubbled psychopath, who haz a new-class cylon following him around in hiz brain, which brings us to the cylons: the new-class cylons are humonoid, the lady ones being hot, former lingerie models. When de be in dere nudity as de frolics wid da witless humons, their spine glows red. Remembers Boomer, the black pilot friend of Apollo & Starbuck? She be an Asian lady pilot now – and by da way, she be Cylon too. And apparently so be Kernal Tiye (Kernal Tiye had very stranje wife who liked to publicly…well, U knoes…in da corridors of da old battlestar.

I likes the new BSG, but on an entirely different level than the original. And really, I liked the old one betters.
