it’s still very sad. No matter how Streep portrayed the woman, the fact remains that she suffered incredible trauma—not only to loose her baby in such a horrific way, but to then be accused of murder, and imprisoned, etc. She and her husband had to sell their home to try to keep up with the legal fees, and their lives were destroyed. She was exonerated after the evidence showed her innocence, but she later killed herself anyway. I can’t even imagine the nightmare that this poor family lived through.

and very, very sad. The parents had been convicted of murder; the mom spent several years in prison. Their lives were ruined. The mom never recovered from the trauma, and killed herself later.
