I third that. I gained more respect for him because of Brokeback Mountain. He was a serious and dedicated actor who wasn’t afraid to take on complicated of controversial roles. He took on a role which he knew would bring him many insults and slurs, and he did it with all the heart and talent of any role. He was great and I will miss him and his movies very much.

Although I respect the idea of trying to pay homage to Mr. Ledger. I don’t think this was the time nor place to do it. It’s as if he is being made fun of. I didn’t appreciate it.

So, here now it’s been exactly one week since he died, and for the last week my thoughts have been utterly consumed with Heath Ledger’s passing. I still can’t get my head around it. It still doesn’t seem real to me. I watched the SAG awards on Sunday night and when Daniel Day-Lewis accepted his award and began talking about him and dedicated his award to him, I just started bawling! I have NEVER cried over a celebrity death before, but this one has really had a profound effect on me. He was one of my absolute favorite actors. It breaks my heart that his little girl will grow up not knowing her daddy and will have to look back at all the disgusting tabloid headlines about him being on drugs, etc.

Never made a comment before, but long time fan of ICHC.

Like the vast majority of you, I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the passing of such a great man.

Whenever someone mentions him, I will always remember his singing scene in “10 things I hate about you.” It never fails to make me laugh. Now it will make me cry.

I cried when I first heard and I cried again now, reading these comments. When an actor or musician you really like passes away, it can seem like they were your friend, because you have seen so much of them and followed their career. It’s very sad what has happened. Heath was one of my favorite actors and I know he could’ve been even greater than he was.
I am very sad for Michelle Williams and their daughter Matilda. Even though Michelle and Heath never married, it must be a devastating loss, and now Matilda will grow up without her father.
Heath Ledger will be remembered for a very long time, and I hope he is truly at peace.

What a sad, yet rather heart-mending post. I loved Heath’s smile and voice, and now it’s gone forever. I’m glad Ceiling Cat will be there for snorgling…

Tuesday was my birthday. (As it was Amaryn’s – Hi, twin!) His passing put a damper on the day.

I’m saddest for his little girl – I know she has a good support system that tells her nothing but good things about her Daddy.

I can’t believe how hard I cried reading this thread. I was sad when I first heard, yes, but I think there’s just been a lot of decency, kindness, and empathy shared here. Which is as comforting as the loss of a 28-year-old father, as others have pointed out, is devastating.

Like so many others, I was truly devastated to hear the news of Heath’s passing.

It seems he was a gentle soul, a true gentleman, and was certainly coming into his own as an actor just before he passed.

Reminds me so much of James Dean. What a waste.

The world needs more people like Heath. Seems to me that the best way to honor his memory is to be the kind of person he was–a good samaritan, a loving father, humble and gracious till the end.

Bless you, Heath. Thanks for sharing yourselves with us for a while.

May your friends and family find comfort remembering the good times they spent with you.

Thank you, Cheezpeeps, for showing overwhelming compassion and kindness for a fellow human being. I was worried that I was weird for being so sad about his passing, but then I came here to discover that the Brokbak kitties and Cheezpeeps were mourning him too.

I’ve been sad about Heath, and the far too many people who have gone to a very black place and been unable to come back. The lolcats give me hope that these sad hearts are at peace, snorgled by kittehs and having biscuits made on their bellies for eternity.

I shall send a message to my pets at the Rainbow Bridge to meet him when he arrives.

What I find just as difficult to believe is that some people are so filled with hatred and are just so EVIL that they would picket his memorial services. Why?
