Global cooling may have actually already started. The warming cycle (1910-1940 warming, 1940-1975 cooling, 1975-? warming) seems to have stopped in 1998, and June and July 2007 saw numerous record lows in the southern hemisphere, as well as snowfall in several places (e.g., Buenos Aires) for the first time in decades. I think even DENVER saw snowfall in JUNE. I might have remembered wrong, though. And really no need to worry about the polar bears drowning. They regularly swim stretches over 60 miles, and the fat on their bodies helps them float.
Has anyone actually watched An Inconvenient Truth? There are records of Polar Bears drowning recently because they can’t find an iceberg.

Whatever “Natural” component of Global Warming may exist has been positively proven insignificant in the face of the unprecedented breadth and rapidity of worldwide climate change in the present.
Also, the population of polar bears has declined and continues to decline at a pace that projects their extinction in a matter of years, not decades. The distance a bear can swim is only part of it. Changes in the topography of their optimal hunting habitat (read: from ice to water) is preventing them from acquiring sufficient food. Almost all polar bears can now be generally considered malnourished which, coupled with the greater heat and energy loss associated with the greater distances they must swim, have led to an astounding number of deaths by drowning.

First off, we still ARE burning coal, and motor vehicles are pumping
way way more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than in the early
20th century. The graphs don’t show greenhouse gases from before the
1950s because they were not measuring greenhouse gases back then.
However, there are graphs showing global temperature, and it is very
obviously increasing, and has been for thousands of years. Anyway, I
have no idea why I am posting on this forum, as obviously none of you
actually want anyone to take you seriously. The pictures may sometimes
be cute or funny, but trying to carry on meaningful debate in childlike
“I can has cheezburger” speak is by no means cute and funny, but just
goes to prove the depressing state of the American public.

It’s true. They can’t swim forever, when the ice is more than 60 miles from land or from other ice, they drown. Drowned bears have been found recently, for the first time in history.
