Ai hav tried veree hard to maek burd watching a hobbee. At the Schlosspark in Ludwigsburg, tehy had a “Valley of the Birds” – with little placards about the birds, with recordings of their songs and the times they sing and where. I used to go there a lot, because initially mai office wuz near there – and it is a veree beyootiful garden. But I never got very good at it. Probably I need to apply myself more. Of coarse I can do the easy birds – robin, red-winged blackbird, pheasant, mourning dove, cardinal, crow, blue jay, nut-thatch, sea gulls, sand-pipers. Well – that got silly very quickly, didn’t it? I was almost going to say something about chicken and ducks and geese and flamingos and storks, but have clearly decided against it.

Do you do your bird watching in an organized way? Like keeping track in a notebook what you saw where and when?

Trees. I have always wanted to be able to do trees. Just like the birds – I go to the big parks (the ones with name cards on their trees) and read the cards and study the tree. I’ve made some slight progress. I’ve never really aspired to bushes.

As fur teh full Pype Band; hou manee daiz wuz it B4 U stawpd heering dehm wenebir it wuz kwiet? I haz had the Wurld Pype Band Champyonship (held owtzide), an still heerd teh pypes 2 dais latur!

Science-wise, I’m sort of inter-diciplinary, but mostly on physical science and chemistry, rather than bio-sciences. Bird watching is a hobby.

Ai has been to teenietinee Ingerland menee times – akshully, Londun menee tiems. Ingerland awnlee twice, teensiest Wales wunz, teenetinyer Ireland wunz and Scawtland awunlee wunz as well. Moar liek Edinborogh, reelee. Flew there, an tehn tuk teh train bak to Ingerland. Saw Scawtland awnlee frum trayne window.
