It seems fitting to continue the saga of the socialization of Esme kitteh here….
It has been a week, and she will come out of the fortress of solitude to gaze at me, and she will allow me to sit within a foot of her if I give her food first. I have been able to pet her twice. We are working on it.
However, she has me well trained already. I seem to be cleaning the litter, providing the food, and waking up at 4 am to strange noises, without the rewards of petting and purring. Not to mention sitting uncomfortably on the hall floor talking to a cat and twitching a feather lure until I’m bored witless.
It is definitely worth it, though. Already I can hear her playing with her toys and purring when she thinks she is alone, and I know eventually curiosity and boredom will lure her out into the wide world that is the rest of the house.
