You will grow out of this, “White Knight,” stage of yours, and eventually realize that not all forms of humor amount to slanderous ridicule. Were that true, 98% of all comedians would be out of a job, comedy films would be virtually non-existent, most music would be banned… The trouble with humor is that it relies on caricaturing that which we find funny, which, often, is something or someone that is different from us or our way of doing things. Just because you laugh at something, that doesn’t necessarily mean you hate it.

As for having “no experience” with the emo scene–been there, done that one, was too smart to give myself the scars to prove it, but yes, I know what it’s like. Unfortunately, when I grew out of that pit of mindless self-focus and started looking around at all the people I’d pushed away and hurt because, “no one understood,” I started to REALLY dislike myself. The trouble here is that most “emo kids” that I’ve met tend to be arrogant pricks who’d rather whine about the raw deal the world has supposedly handed them than to get off their backsides and DO something about their situation. Worse, most of them come from well-to-do families who do love and care for them, and who provide for their every need (one of my very good friends through college was the definition of an emo hipster), and yet, somehow, “everything’s wrong.” Personally, I think it’s got something to do with them thriving on drama, and believing their supposed to be unhappy despite all evidence to the contrary, but I digress…

The bottom line here is that you’re equating picking on a genre of music that is usually followed by adolescents who (just like I was at one time) are incapable of controlling their emotional state due to a nasty fluctuation in their hormone levels. Most folks grow out of that, and laugh about it in later life. Being 18, as intelligent as I’m sure you THINK you are, you’re not quite to that level yet, so your hostility is understandable. But to say, “No, this is off limits,” because it has something to do with you or your way of life is more than just a little closed-minded, and it echoes the behaviors and beliefs of those who will try to limit YOUR lifestyle because of your self-admitted sexual preference.

Life’s too damn short to be so serious all the time. Laugh. Or if you cannot laugh, ignore it. The picture is what it is–your little crusade against intolerance (and can one be intolerant of a class of people who are, on the surface, intolerant of others, whom they see as “Conformists,” when they in fact just as guilty of conformity through dressing alike, wearing the same makeup, and listening to the same bands?) isn’t going to change that. It’s called personal responsibility–suck it up and deal, or find a more productive way to deal with it than grousing about it on a humor website; most of us will tell you to get back under your bridge if and when you do.

Forgive me but your assertion that “who ever made it likely has NEVER met, nor heard anything “emo” related, thus leading them to a false sense of humor” is based on NO knowledge of who the person is or what their experiences are – i.e. it comes entirely from your own prejudices. Likewise “the world needs the reality check”.

If the caption were saying “Emo kitteh is an emotional retard who – like everybody else who is in any way associated with the genre – doesn’t deserve to have his views respected” then it would be offensive. But you seem to suggest that we should not make reference to “emo” because even mentioning it is offensive. That’s called censorship and is not generally viewed as a good thing.

Anyway sorry I’m wasting my time because of course you are right and it is the rest of the world that is wrong. Enjoy that attitude, but I think it will result in you being very lonely.

First – a lot of people on this site are gay. Some r open about it, some not. It doesn’t matter. this may sound a bit stereotyping, but since it is also troo, I’m plunging ahead. Since i’ve been the music and theatre (professionally) almost all ov my life. Therefore, as you can well imagine, at least half of my friends are gay (or lesbian). Who cares? Well, they do, of course, because life is a little harder for them than it is for me. but things are getting better all the time.

Second – you did – YOU DID say that nobody understood – the emo thing and music. But believe me – we do. Moast of us have been there and dun that.

You know – its sort of like when u are in college, or even later 20s and ealier 30s, when it was fun to go to parties and stay up very late and sleep on other peepls floors and stuff. But after a while – well – you move on and it’s not fun any more. And worse, it hurts!

But the people hoo are just starting to do it look and us and think – o, those poor people. They just aren’t having eny fun any more. What they don’t realize – is that we have moved to the next level and are now doing different fun things. A level they, too, will probably reach eventually.

ANd THAT’S why this kitteh is funny. That sad little look – the “no one understands me” attitude. Whereas we do – really – we do. We have only to look at our former selves. And now we just wish we could put our arm around those still in this stage and give them some kind of comfort. But we’re usually rejected. And we also know, with just a bit of luck – it will pass!
