i has a water fountain fer my kittehs, and tehy lubs it. is eezy to kleen n if u use teh filters, it duzn’t get full uv gunkola. it took my 15-year-old kitteh a few days till she wuzn’t skeerd of it, but teh 6-munf-old oranj kitteh lubbed it right away. i recommend one fer awl kittehs eberywar.
I forgot that. Those fountains are great…you do have to buy the replacement filters, but my cats all loved to drink from running fountain! Only problem I had was keeping the dogs away from it! Jean, it is wonderful that you got your baby help in time! And like I said before, being a parental unit myself, if your folks got in a snit-they will get over it! On the other hand, kidney damage is permanent!
Hey guys, sorry I took a little nap since I didn’t get much sleep last night. As for the parental units, only mom knows how much the e-vet cost. A few years back dad spent $500 on a stray from our area after she got hit by a car, and that was okay. However, it would not be okay for me to spend $700 on the cat that I have had for so many years. He doesn’t get it.
I just called and checked on boy kitteh. The vet said he’s doing well. He’s still got the catheter in until tomorrow morning when they can monitor him closely after they take it out. Then they want to keep him til Friday morning to make sure he’s able to go without any problems. We don’t want to end up back at square one simply because I am longing to have my baby back.
In the meantime, I have some shopping to do. I need to get everything to ensure that I am helping him keep from having this happen again. I don’t think mom would be so understanding if I had to do this again. She would probably say just to put him down. (Not that I would anyway, mind you!)
I miss boy kitteh very much, but he needs to stay at the vet’s until he’s all better. I am so glad I found this site with people like me who understand.

ennyway, kitteh bedder be reddy foar menny snorgles. i am all da tiem snorglin himz ennyway, an this iz jus anudder rezun. i doan cayr what teh parentals thinks, himz iz awl i haz, an i am nawt gibing up on himz naow.
i know the vet bills for this kind of problem can be high, but if treated, the prognosis is really excellent. He should be able to live a normal life afterwards.
The PU’s will get over it. It is an investment in joy.
I don’t mind the bills, no matter what they may be. This cat has gotten me through many medical problems over the past decade. When I had shoulder issues, he used to lay across my shoulder and purr for hours on end trying to take the pain away. He knows when I am in pain or unhappy, and he’s always right there for me. I would spend any amount of money I had to in order to make him feel better. I promised him the day I found him in my grandma’s woodshed that he would always be taken care of. Thank you so much for all of the advice about the water and food. The vet hasn’t told me any of that yet, and this way I can go ahead and find the water thing tomorrow before he comes home. He will also have a litter box upstairs for a while until he’s able to go up and down the stairs again.
it’s good to have two litter boxes, anyway, espcially in a house.

I recently spent about $1200 on my 15-year-old cat when she got sick. she also has a little growth on her chest that the vet wants to remove, plus she needs her teeth cleaned, and that’ll be another $480. so… I totally understand. unfortunately.
and I had a diabetic cat for 5 years who needed insulin twice a day.

Chewly, I completely agree. When I brought him home, I promised to take care of him. He’s more than taken care of me since I got him, and now it’s my turn. There’s no other option for me. I wish you the best with your kitteh, too. They can be expensive, but they are sooo worth it.
