Great news friends! Cole has woken up this morning! He is talking and alert– and even though he has a long way to go– they think he is going to be okay! What a miracle! I truly believe that people from all over the US, and the world even, have brought a miracle to my family! I have no doubt at all that all of you who have been so very supportive and loving have had a huge part in this miracle! I can’t thank you enough! Just yesterday the doctors were thinking it has been 4 days and not looking good– and then today! WOW! I am crying happy happy tears!

Nice to know our prayers and good thoughts helped Cole, his sister, you and the rest of your family through the last few days. We’ll keep up the prayers and good thoughts until we know Cole will recover fully. How is his sister doing?
Hayley is having a very hard time with this — but she has a huge family supporting her and we will see to it that she gets some counseling — Cole doesn’t remember anything, but Hayley will never forget. I think twins have an extra connection too and I think this added to the trauma for her. But I am feeling optimistic that things will be okay for all of them!
) I can’t believe the difference a day has made! He was taken by helicopeter to the children’s hospital in KC when the accident occured and that is a ways for me to drive so I can’t go see him every day– but I will keep you all posted as he recovers! Thank you SO much for all of your support and understanding– I am overwhelmed with how special you all are to me!

I am firmly of the belief that if you put a picture on the internet you lose control of it and it is in the public domain.
The law of course disagrees with me.
I just don’t think getting permission from the photographer so you can use their photo for whatever purpose should be necessary.
If you’re making money by using other people’s pix then I can see the problem, but just doing fun free stuff? It seems anal to care.
But what about when someone is giving away an image the creator of that image is SELLING…. Not fair to the creator of the work.
On the other hand, all the “borrowing” of his photos of Baobao and Beibei let him know there was a probable market for his cat photos.
I strongly disagree that it is “anal” to care about getting permission from the picture’s owner just because the picture is on the internet. I have a friend who makes comics for a living and he has a good deal of artwork on his site that’s free to view. Occasionally, someone will grab some of his artwork and uses it for something like a message board avatar without giving him credit and you can bet he’s not happy about it. The work he puts up for free is essentially advertising for the work he publishes in print and sells. If the art becomes detached from its source, people who see it and like it can’t seek out and possibly purachse more work like it and my friend loses potential sales. Likewise, I do think the person who owns a photo has the right to decide whether or not the picture he or she took of his or her cat, dog, walrus, or (worst case scenario) kid ends up all over the internet with “I Hart Teh Buttsecks” plastered accross it.

I sure hope it includes stories about Beibei and Baobao. They are his kitties, so there’s photos of them doing all sorts of things… mostly sleeping lately.
The two of them can be quite silly sometimes.
It turns out this photo is Baobao and not Beibei… they are almost identical.
Catplaza doesn’t get permission, but that’s only step one or step two for these photos travelling like they do. Someone “borrows” a photo to put a cute caption on it (I love CHeezeburger!) and then gives it to a site, and then it ends up on another site… and the original photographer has no idea what’s happening to his photo.
If it were MY photo, I think I’d want someone to ask before using my photo… I kinda like to keep track of what they’re doing. Bounce around a few times online, and before you know it, your photo is used in an ad somewhere…
Trin — I checked into this and the photo was copied from catplaza.com — there is no copywrite info on that site — nor does it list where the pictures came from –so nothing was actually stolen from your friend. Now that YOU have given us the name of the kitteh — thanks for that– I looked up pictures from the owners site and indeed they do have a copyright listed on their photos– maybe you should tell your friend that there IS a way to keep pictures from being copied from the internet and also he could watermark the photos with his info….just a suggestion. No one on THIS site is interested in upseting a cat owner!

Theobromine is a stimulant that affects heart & nervous system and occurs in cocoa beans hence is found in coffee & chocolate (including white chocolate). Not so great for doggies & kittehs, actually – they can’t metabolise it like we can so may be poisoned by even small amounts of chocolate
