My son brought the first book home from his (7th grade) library, said he thought I might like it. And I was like, “WhatEVer, I don’t read KIDS’ books,” but I finally had run out of other things to read, and got started… stayed up till stupid o’clock to finish it, then re-read it all again the next day, and three more times before it had to go back to the library.
::sigh::Oh Edward…Just even…you could be whatever you want during the rest of the day, a redneck or a nerd or a geek or whatever your day job – but for me, for the, what, maybe 6 hours a day that you spend with me, be Edward. Oh, DO be Edward! Except the biting.
I read a critique where the reader complained that although the author gives a reason for Edward falling in love with Bella – her scent and the mystery that he can’t read her mind – that no reason was ever given for Bella falling in love with Edward, that it’s just, enh, boom, there it is, with noexplanation.. And I was like, “Did you READ the book? Did you READ any of the parts that have Edward IN them?” Because no, she didn’t particularly “show us what made Bella fall in love with Edward.” She just made all of US fall in love with Edward TOO, leaving that “reason why” pretty damn self-explanatory.
