Ok, Rob. I finally get this. YOu have fallen into a nest of smart mouths. At least we hope they’re smart. We take the picture and use it as a starting point to see who can come up with the funniest alternative caption. I’m sorry I called you a troll. You were just confused. I feel for you . We can be a confusing lot. The idea as it is implimented on the site is to see who make the rest of the crew laugfh the hardest,. Since you submitted the cap, you have already done your share, but you are welcome to contribute to the general mayhem. The only goal here is to make each other laugh and feel good. It is a smartmouth competition of sorts but always good natured and respectful of the cretters and each other. Since you have already prfove3d that you can be a witty smartmouth, it seems to me that you belong here. YOu are certainly welcome.
Not a troll, actually I posted this cheezburger. And I’m glad it got some decent votes, I’m just kinda…disturbed by all this. I understand for the purposes of making “cheezburgers” that cats, being cats and not people, have a lil trouble with english. It’s cute. But I’m a little confuzzled why everyone here, almost without exception, is talking like lolcats. Taking it a little too far I think. And it’s really hard to read a whole paragraph like that. Especially without a cute kitty behind it. 8(

When I was working, I only read the comments if there were just a few (like less than 40 or so). It’s tough to read everything here now that we have so many cheezfrenz! Everybody is so funny, clever and talented. If I ever get back to work, I’ll have to cut down on the ICHC time!

I’m sure, now that everyone realizes that you are the one who submitted the picture, is sorry for calling you a troll. But it surely surprized everyone that someone who would submit a picture would be so unfamiliar with what we do and how much fun we have here.
We all love the photos – and for that matter, we would be very pleased if you would tell us something about your kitties? Are they yours? How old are they? What are their names? Cute things they do? Stuff like that.
But for this place, the comments are where the fun is. Well – the photos are great fun, too, all by themselves. When I first found this site, I only looked at the photos – and enjoyed them very much. And, back in the early days, the comments were really sort of what you expected – just comments on the pictures. “Oh, how cute.” etc.
Then it began to evolve – LOLspeak (LOLKitteh) began to develop. We speak like this because we consider it the language of the site, not because we think it is cute. Some people spek it better than others. The more you read it, the easier it becomes to understand.
Because it is a new language, new words are constantly being – invented. Especially brilliant consepts are widely applauded. We also have lots of poems, literary discussions, chit-chat – the variety of stuff that goes on hear is amazing – and all of it initially inspired by the submitted photo. That’s the start and it takes off from there.
I hope you someday have time to look at the comments. I think, once you understand, you might really like it. But you pretty much have to go back to the beginning to really understand everything.
Sorry you were disappointed by what you found. But I think, if you had time to see what is really going on, you would be thrilled that your photo was here. If you have time, go back and find “Noir Cat.” I think it’s in early September (7th, maybe?) One of the best examples, I think.

Rob in terms of whether people think the photo / caption is any good, that’s actually what the burger votes are for, right at the top, next to the little hamster on the wheel. So individual comments get voted on and you see the number of burgers (1 to 5) averaged out by each post. But your pic and caption get votes too – at the time I write this, 765 people have voted, and you have almost a 5. So that’s a pretty good rating. Some pics are more popular than others and get more votes but in terms of the quality I would look to the number of burgers rather than the number of votes.
