catbirds are fun critters to have around. When I was a teen we had one who liked to whistle for our dog. It sounded just like my dad callin him for dinner. This one is quite talented…. so far I have heard him do the ice cream truck, my alarm clock, a clonking noise I can’t identify, cicadas, and enough different species of birds that you would think you were in a National Geographic special or a Hitchcock movie.

OK, I admit it, I’m easily entertained.

I guess they can! I luked it up and tihs is whut I found.

This species is named for its cat-like call but, like many members of the Mimidae family, it also mimics the songs of other birds, as well as tree frogs and even mechanical sounds that they hear, having a syrinx like most birds, are able to make two sounds at the same time. The alarm call resembles the quiet calls of a male mallard.
