Thta fixture can definitely be cleaned. I’ve lived in old houses. A toothbrush and comment would clean the grime around the fixture. The rest can be cleaned too. Embarassing!

It’s a marble counter top. Its not dirty. As for the fixture, as someone who lives in a Victorian house I can vouch for the fact that older fixtures are almost impossible to keep sparkling. Some of us prefer to live in older houses that may not be as a sparkling white as the crappy McMansions they build these days.

I understand your annoyance, but the cat is not REALLY saying that. It is a JOKE. Fact: If you put kittens in water THEY CAN LEARN IT’S FUN. Some cats who were washed as kittens love water. I do agree about the bathroom, though. eeeeeew. I hope it is just reflections or something, but somehow, I doubt it.

I’m glad someone realized this. Obviously the people that don’t agree on how filthy this bathroom sink is, have similar looking ones in thier houses.
As for the “maybe its an unfinished basment sink”people- bullcorn. There’s a fresh razor lying in the filth and you can see the bottom of a shaving cream can.
These people need to have the SPCA called on them because I can’t imagine what the rest of thier house looks like.
I want to reach into that picture and take that kitten away from his dirty, disease ridden impending doom.

mah tubby kitteh has baffs sumtimes cause he dusn’t cleen himself gud alwais. mah skinneh kitteh is verry cleen and sh dun need baffs yet (we adopted her from a shelter only a month and a half ago and she was surprisingly clean for being a half starved stray that sat in a shelter for 2 days … did you know they don’t even feed the animals in some rural shelters? they just keep them there until Thursday when the badman comes … bastids)

but aneeeewai sink = pleh ; kitteh = squeee! ; baffs = sometimes needed ; skratches on hands = inevitables

Tear no fleaz whar I liv, but had a kitteh tat gottz skunked once. Was MUCHLY pleh! So I pulld on teh rhino hide glovz (Fatty Freddy cat refrenz) an we didz teh tomato juz baf folld bai teh babee shampoo. He wuz so gladz to looz teh stink he held still. Poor lill guy! LOLz, for goodness sake, kitty isn’t going to give the house a white-glove test, people!

I think kooly’s tips for kitty-bathing are terrific but that’s not to take away from this kitty-momma’s good intentions. Kitty may not be thrilled but she doesn’t seem to be distressed, either, just stoic, and appears to trust her human. As far as the cleanliness – either it is a little-used sink in the basement, or maybe the lady pays more attention to her kittens and lets the housework slide a bit, and is that really so bad? And you know, cats sniff each others’ heinies, and come home with all manner of bloody rodents and insects dangling from their mouths, so I don’t think the kitten’s going to turn her nose up at a little grime, yes?

While I’m here I just want to thank you, Jack, for your very lovely haiku, which capture the moment of the photos, and the kittens intrepid spirit, so perfectly. I always look forward to them, and they always make me smile.

Actually, I think that that picture is a tribute to that particular human/”kitteh” relationship – the cat seems to be quite relaxed and to trust its human’s hands despite the cliche (and frequent reality) of the basic “cats hate baths” situation. I’m a pretty quick worrier – but I’m not worried about this picture. The humorous (or maybe response suggests, “humorous”) suggestion of the caption aside, I liked it.
