I am SO sorry to hear about Mr. Binks’ liver (tho is funny to hear about the vet! Probably the vet is not amused). I am hoping he will be all right. In fact, your news scared me half to death. It almost seems to me that that’s what Shakespeare had. Might have been kidney. I can’t believe that I can’t remember! Might be in his health records. I still haven’t been able to throw them away!

Good that you had the tests done. I didn’t until way too late. His first vet simply didn’t diagnose it (whatever “it” was – ). Could have been corrected with proper diet. But he WAS 16. That may sound old to many people, but since my Mitzi and Florian were 21 and 20 respectively when they died, it still seems young to me!

Yes, spending time with loved ones seems to be a hard lesson for younger people to learn. How I wish I had spent more time with some of my now gone relatives. And the questions I wish I had asked them! I’m sorry to hear about your grandma Alzheimer’s is such an awful thing.

Still haven’t found the photos of Shakespeare – but havn’t had any time to look. My aunt Daisy (92) has been having a lot of problems in the last couple of weeks (needs a new hip, we think – old ones – hip replacements, not real hips- worn out) and is in so much pain she’s hardly coherent. Just when you think everything is going along smoothly, something else happens!

Is your granma past knowing people? I havn”t had to deal with that. Must be so hard.

Sorry i haven’t commented until now. Things are going crazy. I took Binks to the new vet. (I really like the new vet.) Binks threw a fit again and they had to use gas to sedate him in order to examine him. The vet said he looked in great health, but i told them to do the senior bloodwork on him just to make sure. Anyway, I got the results in, and Mr. Binks has elevated liver enzymes. So we are getting an ultrasound on him to make sure he doesnt have liver disease. But the good news is, that he isnt showing any signs of being sick and his levels are only double normal. We changed his food and are giving him supplements, so hopefully this will bring them back down. Wish us luck!

Its great that you can spend so much time with your mom. Time with our loved ones is very precious i’ve learned lately. (My grandma is very ill and has alzheimer’s. I wish i could have spent more time with her before she got sick.)

Yes, I’ve got tons of pictures of him. I’ll have to dig them out, though, which may take a littel time. And I’d love to share.

My Mom is 91 and I’m staying with her all of the time. I don’t like leaving her alone. She has a heart problem – and besides, I don’t think she would to too well at this point all by herself. But all of my stuff is at my house in town. I just go there now to check on things, water the plants, pick up the mail and get some different clothes from time to time.

Which is why it will take a little while to find them. But I’m wanting to look anyway. After looking a Mr. Binks, I’m ready to do some looking at Shakespeare.

Hope the trip to the vet went all right! And I hope the vet is all right!

I dont think you sound like a stalker. You just really miss your baby. I will be the same way when Mr. Binks is gone. Your mom’s farm sounds like a great resting place.

You know, I’m still amazed at all the ways Mr. B and Shakespeare are alike. Not ONE of my current kitties comes running when I turn on the fawcett to stick their paws (and tongues) in the water! (Though a couple of them do like to watch the toilet flush! But they don’t try to stick their paws in.
Shakespeare never put his paws in the toilet, either!)

I can’t remember if he chewed houseplants. I tried to keep them supplied with cat grass. Otherwise I just mostly had geraniums.

I also don’t know what he did with shoes and purses. He didn’t really have the opportunity to do that. Sounds really cute, though.

Thanks so much for talking about Mr. Binks with me. I’m really still in deep mourning for Shakespeare, though he’s been gone now for over four years.. My Mom’s house is on a ten acre farm, so we have a pretty little cat graveyard. I often just go and sit by his grave. Sounds a little morbid, doesn’t it? Mitzi and Florian are there, too. Makes me feel a bit better.

I’ll be checking back here now and again. I’d love to hear about any of Mr. Binks’ exploits. It’s very comforting to know there”s “another one” out there!

We have to keep any plants out of reach, or he will chew them until they make him sick. He also likes to lay on top of purses and shoes.

I was told, when I first saw him, that he was supposed to be a Turkish van. His personality certainly matched up with everything they are supposed to be, but most of the ones I have seen in cat books seem to have patches of ginger. They are the swimming cats, you know, which would account for his love of water, perhaps.

He also really liked to unroll toilet paper. I was just reminded of that by the recent kittey post!

Binks is a great big brother to Kidd. We were worried about adding another kitty to our house since Binks had been an only boy for 8 yrs. Mr. Binks took Kidd under his wing right away. Binks loves to rub the side of his head on our feet while we are eating. If he wants a door open, he paws at it and meows. He likes to backtalk too. If we tell him “no”, then he makes a mad sounding meow back at us.

Furrbabies are so special, each in their own ways. But I think Binks and Shakespeare definately stand out above the rest!

Thanks for sharing so much about your Mr. Shakespeare. He sounded like a most excellent cat. A rarity indeed! (I think Binks and Shakespeare must be kindred spirits.)

I was most sorry to hear of your beloved Shakespeare. May he rest in peace over the RB. I will be happy to tell you of my Mr. Binks. He is also one of a kind and very special. He adopted me & my husband one day. (He was a stray.) He is 9 yrs old. He likes for me to spoon him every night while we sleep. He loves tummy rubs and watching birds. But his favorite thing to do is to sit outside in the sun with the wind dancing thru his fur. He is very opinionated and lets you know what he wants.

We also have another kitty named captain kidd who is solid white with long hairs. His purrsonality is different than binks. He is very sweet all the time and just goes with the flow.

As you may have read above, your KittehMr. Binks looks JUST like my most belovedShakespeare. Can you tell me more about him – his purrsonality and all? I’d like to know if cats that look that much alike might also have similar personalities. I thought Shakespeare was quite one of a kind. A most amazing cat.
