I redecorates the house to go with the kittehs and puppeh! No furniture, rugs or whatnots in my house be completed wifout librul doses of kitteh and puppeh fur.
i resintly bot a car, and wusnint happee that teh inteeryer was black (i’s lives in teh southeest US), until i mememberd that mah doggeh is black. so that made it ok to burns my hands on teh steering weel all summur!
I live in FL….I uses a leather steering wheel cover….an a folded towel on mah seat!! It’s still vury hot, but it helps!

It’s actually probably better that they do bring the pets back. People that selfish and stupid certain don’t have any business owning any pets.
i almost added something to that effect, because it is undeniably true–the sad reality, tho, is that most older animals don’t have a chance of being adopted. in many places, any dogs and cats over FIVE is automatically euthanized–they don’t ever make it out of the intake area to be given another chance.
people who think otherwise are kidding themselves, and laying yet another level of responsibility onto the already burdened hearts of the shelter staffs. the least they could do would be to take the animal to their own vet, and take on the financial cost–but that’d take compassion, and courage….

support your local rescue and shelter; go play with the older cats and dogs–they’re not there cuz they’re bad pets, but because hoomins broke promises to them…..

THC…such tru, sad words! All six of mai kittiehs, and bof doggies, are rescued….tru, some were just born when I saved them….but just as many were growed up or old…and all wuz either sick or injured….I have a sad hart ever time I think of shelter peoples who are so brave and have such thankless jobs!!
When me and my hushband gets back from afghanistans, that is furst order of bizness for us: give a shelter doggie and a couple of kittehs a FOREVER HOME! Cuz of the military lots of famblys has to either give their furry fambly members aways or to other famblys…plus I not so good at potty training puppehs…so older doggy for me it is.
And, YOli, u and ur hushband must be sures to keeps ur heds and asses down so u
gets home safe and sownd, ok?
Amen. Give ‘em a chance at a decent home. What’s the saying, “The more I know people, the more I like my dog (or cat)”?

Tenhousecats, I applaud your comment. PLEASE, everybody, find a few bucks to give to your local shelter or Humane Society. There are probably rescue agencies in your area that need help, too. Check with your vet or with a pet supplies store. My local shelter is VERY considerate on older and hard-to-place animals, and I’ve worked with a lot of dogs and cats that deserved SO MUCH BETTER than the people who chose them initially as companions. We also took in about 130 dogs and cats following Katrina that were flown outta New Orleans and we worked pretty damned hard to ensure that everybody got a fighting chance. One twenty year-old kitty and a so-called “feral” grey tiger with chronic owl ears) were among the most lucky. (The “feral” turned out to be just seriously stressed and needed complete privacy — REALLY!!!) It’s also how I met my Rufus, the Yorkshire Terror who’s now the KING OF THE BLOCK. (Daphne, the adolescent tabby next door, strongly disagrees as she deftly puts him in his place with one quick, clawless swipe.)
FYI: My local humane society agreed last week to accept over 100 cats from two (yeah, TWO) local cat “hoarders” for care. (I mostly work with the doggies, because some volunteers are not comfortable with the pits and rotties.)
It’s gonna be an interesting summer.
and don’t think that adopting or fostering is the only way to help….
shelters and rescues need all sorts of things–simple things like help answering the phones, getting the newsletter out, picking up donations of food and supplies, taking critters to the vet, taking photos to post on the web, helping out at adoption events, staffing fundraising events–everyone has a role to play, and every contribution helps. direct animal care is not everyone’s strength–but every hour of paperwork, or errands, or public relations work that a volunteer can do, another hour is freed up for those who can work directly with the animals…
it all matters, and the critters can’t do it without us.

i adopted a 7 yr old schipperke from a rescue where i live and he was just the best dog. after 2 yrs he got sick and died and i still miss him very much, even though now i have 2 more dogs, one of which i adopted from the same rescue group.
My Abby is a five-year old rescue dog. All of my behbehs are previously owned, two from shelters, one from the street. All were older when they came to my house. Actually, I prefer it — despite the overwhelming cuteness of kittens & pups, there’s a lot to be said for pets who’re already house-trained and won’t chew up everything in sight.

I have many babehs mahself. Used to haz 5 babehs..but mah oldest (10 years old; Angyl) randed away when I was on vacations. We live near an old folds commnity..so methinks she is happy an’ safe.
I got mah Mistofeleese babeh-boy at teh shelter. He was in a box with his siblings in the reception area. We tooks all 4 home, found good homes for three and I kepted him. *smiles.* One of the bestest, most sweetest cats evar.
and then…he had babehs with mah Starrluna…so we founded homes for allz of dem XD! Now we have Psyko (9 yr F) Starrluna (1yr F) Mistofeleese (11mnth M) Ka’oreo & Little Lord ( 4mth M&F)….and I lubs dem all. Never evar shelters for dem.
Shelter kitties have soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much lub to givess. Purrfect.

Greyhounds r sweeties … manee peepl do not know a lot of these dogs givn steroids to mak them “bettr athletes,” an latr doggies die of the cancer … all of myn did. Dat’s what vet told me, anywayz. I getz teary thinkin of them.

mah Betty (? – October 12, 2005, prolly 16 yrs ol) was a trashy, Lhasa-mix who had only seven or eight teeth when I found her abandoned in a snowbank in 2000 in Muskegon. She was the most glamourous doggie, EVAH!!! Mah groomer usta paint her nails either metallic pink or purple, depending on her mood.

Both models are designed for human color perception. Kittehs would probably prefer to choose based on contrast in low-light conditions. Meeses are easier to spot that way.

That’s why I chose SILVER kitties. I figured that any fuzz they leave behind would blend in with the general layer of dust/filth that accumulates no matter what I do. Most of the time the kitty fur blends in nicely except when the kitties sleep on things that are entirely white (black fur?!) or entirely black (white fur?!).
